What's was your favourite fast food product that unfortunately got retired and never came back?
Here, for a while at McDonald's there was a π called "the 1955" and it was the best, big pieces of onion, an special sauce, buns and big piece of beef with bacon (for Europe standards anyways) it disappeared once and came back for an encore only to be removed again and never return.
Taco Bell Choco-Taco. Yeah, the reanimated corpse of it lives on in some gas station frozen sections, but it's a shitty product. The original one sold at Taco Bell in the 90s was god tier.
I hate to tell you, but even the shitty Choco Tacos were discontinued a few years ago

Taco Bell's Volcano Taco. They brought it back for like a month and took it away again. Technically it's still available in Kuwait but I can't get anyone to mail me a bag of the sauce.

The double decker is still around, they call it something else, but you can still order it.
Burger King chicken nuggets from the 90s, before the recipe changed to crap. If I had to pick a flavor that I associate with my childhood, this would be it.
The Angus Mushroom & Swiss burger from McDonald's. The Angus was the closest thing they ever had to a real burger, but they were too expensive for most people and were eventually discontinued. Fun fact: wages have stagnated yet their basic burgers now cost more than the Angus did.
Wendy's ruined the bacon too. It's the same garbage you'd get at Burger King, and it's significantly smaller and tastes worse than the bacon they were using a year or so ago.
Omg the McDonald's Angus burgers were FIRE. I ate wayyyy too many of the Bacon and Cheese ones and occasionally the Mushroom. I even loved they got put in their boxes with the paper burger holders LIKE EVERY BURGER FUCKING SHOULD.

McDs also had an excellent salad wrap for a couple of years.

Milk Shakes at just about any fast food restaurants. The machines always seem to be down! Pulled up to an Arby's a few months back to order a Jamoca shake and they said their machine was down. I asked them if I had pulled into the McDonald's drive through by mistake. We all had a big laugh... but that was months ago and they have now put a sticker on the menu that says their shakes are not currently available :(
Went to a Baskin Robins to order a Chocolate Milk shake and they were out of Chocolate ice cream... on multiple occasions. At least they don't have a machine to break down!

The Double Decker taco came back for like a month last year and I went to Taco Bell probably eight times once I realized it because itβs my favorite and Iβm super pissed that they wonβt just make one for me even though they have all of the ingredients, FFS.

For a VERY brief time in 2010, Burger King sold bone-in short ribs.
Guys, those were literally the best fucking short ribs I have had in my life. High end BBQ places couldn't even come close. Every Burger King would sell out like instantly whenever they got a shipment in. And then after 2 months... Gone. Forever.

It was also the only time I can recall them having a swiss and mushroom burger on the menu. It was delicious.
Not exactly fast food but kinda junk food, the sugar free lime Red Bull it was so good it was an after work treat I would get myself. Then it just slowly started disappearing from shelves and then they were gone, I would love it if they brought it back. As for fast food double decker tacos at Taco Bell, they had a good long run so I canβt be too disappointed, but miss just being able to go in and buy them when I want.
I loved that Red Bull! I would buy it as a treat after work and it was so refreshing. I don't know why they discontinued it!

Technically, you can still get it, but the 7 layer burrito was my go-to order when I was on the road and forced to have fast food. The Taco Bell in the next town over was right off the highway, so as I would be zipping between patients, it was usually the only realistic option other than a truck stop that had put people in the hospital three times. So, you know, l decided to live, mas or not lol.
There was a point in time where I ended up eating a lot of taco bell. Enough that I'd had everything on their menu at least once, up until 2005. After that, I haven't been able to work, so no zipping around three counties wiping butts, which means no need for fast food except as an occasional thing. So I've lost track of if they've had any temporary stuff or not.
But, yeah, the 7layer was bomb. Like I said, you can still get the same thing by messing around and adding things to other burritos, but that's a pain in the ass for drive through, if you feel me.
Mirroring Taco Bell here. Mine was the cheesey bean and rice burrito....they removed it and re released it, but it's not the same at all. No pico, almost no creamy jalapeno sauce and just a bunch of rice and beans now.
There's a reason Primus' Les Claypool mentions the 7 Layer Burrito in "Wynonna's Big Brown Beaver".

The chicken salad recipe was pretty basic, if I remember right though. They have it listed on their app, too, I think; The only important note is you have to use debreaded fried filets, not ones with breading on. Grilled will change the flavor a little because of the marinade.

I feel like Iβm cursed or McDβs is taking a huge nose dive. I havenβt had a good, hot, not-soggy, salty McDonalds french fry in like 2-3 years. Every time I go, the fries are super gross. Iβve taken several road trips and the only consistency Iβve experienced is how terrible the fries have been.
It's not just you. I almost always get fries that I think have been mostly cooked earlier then dunked in the fryer for a warm up before they serve them.
80's-90's McDonald's apple danish
Jalapeno rings at del taco.
Sliced jalapeno, breaded and fried. Served with a ranch-esqe sauce.
Simple and so fucking delicious.

McDonald's Grilled Chicken Flatbread. I sometimes feel like I'm the only one that remembers them, but they were so delicious around 2003 or 2004, can't really remember anymore.

Also, McDonalds used to have a super excellent breakfast burrito with sausage, bacon, peppers, everything. Back when breakfast all day was a thing.

At McDonalds in India, there was a chocolate thick shake. It was basically chocolate shake that was frozen. It was served from a softie-machine of sorts. I had to suck the straw so effing hard to have 1 sip of the shake.
I used to buy it and let it melt for a while , just so that I can drink it through straw.
