  • That's cute, it's also cool to just be content instead of happy, the benchmark of happiness is tough for a lot of folks to achieve but barring war or macro issues almost anyone can find contentment/peace.

  • This and the source lendingtree article are both missing contextual timeline charts. They say it's spiking, but spiking requires context, compared to what baseline?

I don't doubt that there is significant financial stress and that it's likely a very telling data point. 5% on average across the United States seems very significant, what is the baseline of delinquency? What was it this time last year?

  • The default branch for some projects is "production" since CD deploys on pushing to that branch

For new projects, main. My thought is that even if master is not offensive, since the industry has generally made the change, the only reason to stick with master is stubbornness or hating political correctness, neither of which aligns with my self-view so I'll use main and move on.

In general if people are genuinely hurt by the use of some words, I'm not sadistic so I'll avoid using them. From my perspective morality is the pursuit of the reduction of suffering, even if that suffering is internal.

  • Fiverr and upwork are the standard starting places, their policies of keeping contractors on the site are rough, the cut they take is rough, and the competition is rough.

I've had success identifying specific software vendors with functional deficits and targeting customers of that software

  • The time is now to delete your social media and connect on private communication channels with likeminded people. Use trusted vpns to connect to sites like lemmy. The next steps are crystal clear:

    1. It's now illegal to publicly shit talk the administration, fuck the first amendment
    2. Use the massive massive budget assigned to ice to identify users who don't fall in line
    3. Anyone who is so unpatriotic to publicly disavow the trump regime has their citizenship revoked
    4. ice concentration camps for those newly non-citizen "immigrants"
    5. Everyone else "internalized authoritarianism" s themselves into submission

When nobody speaks out it will feel as though there is no hope and you'll feel alone. Keep safe communication channels open now so you don't have to fear later.

Vpns may be made illegal, but there are other ways to anonymize communication.

  • We have fireflies in our area but one of our neighbors sprays for mosquitoes (huge fan on the back of their truck and they drive around the neighborhood) and every year I notice the fireflies leave (die) when that starts.

  • Are You Even Human by Thundamoo. Really liked it, it is incomplete and may not be popular enough to tempt the author to conclude it on royal road

Pilot by will wight, incredible author, one of my favorite in fantasy today, but the book was one of his weaker entries imo

When we're home, we want people to think we're away. When we're away we want people to think we're home.

ChatGPT is driving me nuts with sychophantic responses. I don't need a flattery for every mundane message.
