  • I was hoping for a way that would work when I link other people, not just for myself.

That said, I didn't have this plugin and it is super useful overall. For sure has enhanced my Lemmy experience, thank you!

  • I'm not going to flood us with French rap, but a lot of it goes hard. It is probably the only language besides english that I specifically look for rap in. Besides German, since I am trying to learn that.

  • Enjoyed this and will probably listen to it again later this week to see if it grows on me, but not sure if any individual song is strong enough that I want to listen to it in a regular basis.

Best sing was probably the last one, More Bad News. Overall enjoyed the beats too.

EDIT: I posted this in the wrong thread, this is why I don't normally post on mobile. I'll give this a listen and give an actual opinion later.

  • I don't think a lot of rappers can come back after over 2 decades without an album, but Slick Rick I think can. His style is absolutely timeless and as long as the beat isn't trying to do too much he is going to sound smooth as hell. I would be psyched

  • This song was the first Hip Hop song I actually remember hearing. This or Thong Song, both of which still hold up (in very different ways). I remember this coming on the radio when I was on the bus in 6th grade and singing along and all the high school girls thought I was cute. I got bullied a lot in 5th grade so the older girls going off on anybody who messed with me on the bus felt good for 6th grade and gave me some confidence.

That said, I think this song would be better without the 2nd to last chorus. Dude is fine but it always feels so out of place to me.

  • This was dope, wish it was on Spotify. I might actually buy this since it doesn't seem to be.

Favorite track was probably Self Taught. Star Jumpers really got me going too and the horns on Dark Technology were sick. Hip hop needs more horns. I'm a sucker for The Beastmaster so Wizard gets a huge thumbs up from me too. There was a section in the middle I wasn't super feeling (Tracks 9-12), but it came right back with Hold It Down. Overall, the album for sure seemed stronger in the first half though (except Self Taught). The general style and the little samples at the start of some track really gave the whole thing an old school feel for me, which I liked.

Anybody know more about this dude? Seems like he goes under a few different names (Asharri The Vagabond, Derelict, and Self Taught Knowledge, maybe more) but I can't find any of his stuff on any major streaming service. Just Bandcamp and Soundcloud. I'm finding stuff dated as far back as 2008 that seems to be him

  • Never heard of this dude, dude has a great voice for rap. I love when people share artists like this, so much new stuff to listen to.

His newest single, from June this year, is dope too. Very different style though.

  • I was really likingHalf Doin Dope until Yachty came in. I don't know what it is but that dude just sucks the air out of any song he is on for me. That said, I didn't hate Van Gogh, despite being like half Yachty. This is probably the first Yachty feature I've ever liked so that was cool.

I really liked The Forever Story, can't wait till his next album drops. Hopefully this means just a few months?
