  • You ever been to London? I hear about stabbings a violence occasionally, sometimes places I'm very close to. But they're always gang related, if you're not in a gang, you're probably safe.

I feel like Mexico is kinda similar with an added bonus of don't walk around with expensive stuff or look like an easy target.

    Does that sound right?

  • I'm pretty computer stupid. Been using Linux for 4 years now. Used the terminal to some extent, but I've only needed it for specific things and my day to day doesn't need it at all. Just dive in.

  • Every country ever has "looted artifacts", that was literally the point of war for like 4000 years. The vast majority of the British museum's items were legally purchased. Just like every other gallery in the world.

Would you take Mona Lisa from the Louvre? Obviously italian.

  • A lot of sci Fi fans also get on well with Terry Pratchett. The audio books are really good, although I prefer Stephen Briggs who did the 2nd half to Nigel Planer. You can't go wrong with Going Postal, it doesn't rely on much from the earlier books, or Men at Arms if you wanted an earlier book in the discworld series.

If you wanted to stick to sci-fi, The Stars my Destination is one of my favorites, it's a modern count of Monte Cristo. Speaker for the dead is also one of my favorites, the sequel to enders game.

  • I fully welcome Orville into the Star Trek fandom. It's clear that Seth wanted to make an awesome star Trek show and sold it as a comedy to get airing in my mind. I think he did a fantastic job, for sure the best new trek I've seen, although I haven't tried brave new worlds yet.
