  • I regret to inform you that Nintendo is suing you for using their copyrighted trademark "Nintendo" without express written consent. That will be an additional $80/per minute to exist. Failure to pay will result in no longer existing.

  • Absolutely understand the point of view, but also think the doomer mentality is exactly what those fuckers want. I know this will be a huge shocker, but the richest people running around causing the most pollution are broadly made up of actual narcissists. They don't care about the future past themselves, and they don't care why people quit giving a shit as long as they can continue with their lifestyle. Oil companies are also just fine with doomers, too, as long as they aren't actually doing anything about it.

I think the doomers have alarmed me almost more than the deniers. I can't really argue with them like I can deniers, because they are working on the same set of facts. All I can do is basically plead with them to start giving a shit, which is almost as ineffective as arguing with deniers. I think more painfully is that it means we've just given up on trying to make things better. That we're ready to just lay down and let the planet be squeezed by the greed of a few. Which means that we've given up on even a CHANCE that we'll make the changes necessary to stop climate change.

Trying to stop that well funded greed train means taking a LOT of L's. I'm just not a person that gives up easily. I genuinely believe that if we all keep hammering on it then it still has a chance of changing. That if we keep it as a priority that we can at least stick it to those greedy fuckwits a tiny bit. More than that though it means that we still have a chance to actually tackle this problem, where the doomer mentality takes that chance away.

On the other hand, I also spend my free time hand writing letters to conservative politicians to get them to replace Confederate statues with statues of John Brown. So my tolerance for pissing into the wind is quite high.

  • I think this too, but I think the reason people get desensitized to it is that it just happens so frequently that it turns into background noise. Similar to alarm fatigue that nurses experience in ERs. Sort of an interesting piece of alarm fatigue is that too many warnings make people ignore them completely, and we get increasingly alarming news about climate almost daily at this point.

  • Anyone who just read the headline needs to actually go read the article. It's not very long. Not that the headline is misleading, he absolutely said those things, but the whole thing is just the most deranged rant. Cain somehow got from being mad about changing the slogan to "truth, justice, and a better tomorrow" to immigrants want to make America into Somalia in two moves.

  • They are pretty similar in a lot of ways. Like how Matt Walsh walks around with a gallon of meth on most days, and he probably has kids tied to his radiator in his basement so he can grape them. Just uncanny really.

  • What kind of tech do you work in specifically? You might be able to pivot to a different role instead of completely changing careers. I only say this cause I did it a few years ago to gtfo of security. Turns out that made a world of difference for my stress levels. Now feel like I'm doing something instead of asking people constantly to do basic security configs and to patch their shit that hasn't been patched for 5 years.

  • Asmongold is a megaphone for shitty opinions. Like I posted elsewhere he'll change his opinion if he gets called out, but the damage was done when he put it on the megaphone in the first place. His take on the "never play defense" is to not have any actual opinions when confronted then just go right back to saying other right wing bullshit.

  • Asmongold does that. Like the dude doesn't have any real opinions other than what gets views. If he sees the winds changing he'll pull a 180 in order to take the heat off himself. He also has hoards of followers and youtube minions to make him seem far more centerist than he is. He's like the personification of the alt-right playbook for dummies.

I mean watch/listen to The Alt-Right Playbook series and tell me this is not what he does on a daily basis: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJA_jUddXvY7v0VkYRbANnTnzkA_HMFtQ

  • PirateSoftware is what dumb people thinks a smart person acts like. His audience can't even pay attention unless he draws boxes in paint. I do understand how he can seem initially likeable, but if you watch him for more than a couple of hours you'll see his knowledge is shallower than a spilled glass of water.

  • Hold on there buddy! There's no reason to be derogatory towards hobos like that. I don't think I've ever been quite so offended on the internet as to have someone associate my good (user)name with the likes of Asmongold. If you don't bring that down a notch I'm gonna send the ghost of Woody Guthrie to haunt you until your dying days.
