  • You'd be surprised how many people nowadays just leave random shows or movies on in the background while they're on their phones.

Even my Dad does it, I ask what he's watching on Netflix, etc and half the time he has to check even tho he was the one who clicked on it in the first place...

  • Some laptops don't really let you boot from external install media so easily nowadays.

I helped a buddy get Linux Mint on their "old" laptop to try it out. But it turned out you needed some manufacturer provided code to unlock booting from anything but the main harddrive within the bios.

We contacted support but never heard back. We did find a work around when they decided to swap the existing HDD for an SSD, they used a USB to sata cable to install Mint on the SSD from their desktop then installed the SSD into their laptop in place of the original drive so it booted straight into that.

  • MC3 works great in PCSX2 on Deck.

There's also Midnight Club L.A. Remix for the PSP which I recently 100%'d through PPSSPP. It's closer gameplay wise to MC3 than the full console version of Los Angeles.

Sadly Midnight Club Los Angeles still kinda sucks to emulate at the moment. but someone is working on a re-compilation of the game for PC. But seems like that going to take a while even if things go well...

  • My entire school had a banned words list they put on a board near the main door.

I remember walking in past the board one morning only to get pulled back by a friend, he didn't say anything just stood pointing at the board....They added 'Milf' to the list of banned words.

  • The office job I had before Covid had machines with Windows XP stickers on the front running Windows 10.

Took near 10min to get to the login screen, and you had to remember to save all your work before trying to open an browser because it was semi common for Chrome to crash everything else, sometimes the whole computer. (and yes we were forced to use Chrome...)

  • My friend had one (maybe an older version) and it wasn't very good quality, kinda felt like crap out the box and broke within a month.

I wish modular controllers caught on as I also never liked the Xbox layout, which has only gotten more common even on 3rd party Playstation pads.

  • It's kinda letter of the law vs spirit of the law.

People got opinions of what open-source should stand for outside of just having the source code available for others to use.

I doubt Mozilla are gonna lock away the source code anytime soon, But their recent antics have rubbed a lot of FOSS people the wrong way.
