What is your favourite game with native Linux port?
  • In fact Linux is the superior version of Factorio, since you get to have asynchronous saves that don't pause the game

  • A cool guide to soldering
  • Massive Ground planes on a multi layer board were my breaking point.

I tried to clean the through holes where a micro USB port was secured and only could get it cleared by drilling out the solder.... (Only had a soldering iron and wick available)

  • Weekly what have you been playing discussion - week of April 1st, 2024
  • I've been playing Elden Ring with the Seamless Co-op mod with a few friends, it's been a blast so far.

  • How do you manage your server files?
  • You can do the same on Windows (mount ssh shares), there is an Fuse like project for Windows: WinFsp.

  • [RMA] What is this lump on my friend's CPU?
  • It could actually, the Heat spreader is usually bonded to the Chip with some form of Indium Solder, which usually has a melting point of up to 210°C (most compositions are around 120-140°C).

Solder likes to form a similar ball around traces and components, since the solder does not stick to the silk screen of the PCB.

And I remember that this is exactly what happened in the Gamer Nexus video, the Indium Solder was melting due to Overheating.

  • Average NVIDIA driver experience
  • Agreed. And then there is the combo of the most recent NVIDIA driver and Debian Kernel that doesn't work together. First time I actually had to downgrade a Kernel update though.

But I guess this could happen with every driver

  • I picked up Starsector again this weekend and having a blast with a modded playthrough.

  • Microsoft may replace the Start button with the Copilot AI in Windows 12
  • "Allows" You have to add/change a registry key, so it's not like this is an option Microsoft wants normal users to have.

  • Microsoft may replace the Start button with the Copilot AI in Windows 12
  • Really? It hasn't been reset for me once, I wonder why I'm not affected.

You could just make a backup of the registry key and install it again in a few clicks .

  • Your Windows 10 PC will soon be 'junk' - users told to resist Microsoft deadline
  • I wish, but multiple Laptops with unavailable drivers, barely working trackpads, sleep issues and a few other annoyances tell me it isn't always as easy.

I haven't found many systems that Windows doesn't run

  • Microsoft may replace the Start button with the Copilot AI in Windows 12
  • I disabled that realy quickly... If I wanted to search the Web I would use a browser. I can only recomment that, it speeds up search a lot and it now actualy works as one would expect

  • Linux way way slower than Windows?
  • Do you know what model AiO you have? Some models report pump speeds as higher since they have multiple magnets triggering the RPM sensor, so the 1600 might actually be 800 or even 400, which is way too low for the pump.

I would try setting the pump (and AiO fan) to 100% speed in the Bios for testing. Some pumps work well with a fan curve, some don't.

Edit with more technical details: Normally each revolution should generate 2 Pulses on the rpm Feedback wire. But Pumps don't always follow this spec so might over or underreport their actual rpm.

  • Thing is you can have a single page app that still works with middle click, depending on the framework it's mostly automatic or some config for the router.

At least that's what I can say from my experience building a single page app, but considering I'm using new tabs extensively I did have some bias to make it work.
