PM says it would 'cost the taxpayer a fortune' if he didn't accept free Arsenal tickets
  • I think that's a massive over reaction to the general situation. There are noticeable changes taking place to undo the Tory damage to the country. He and Labor are far from perfect, but to question the point of why you would vote Labour over Tory is just insanity.

  • Campaigners tie baby slings to statues in call for better UK paternity leave
  • I thought shared parental leave was a legal minimum? For the uninitiated, that's where some or all the maternity leave can be given to the paternal parent, meaning there isn't an inequality.

If they are campaigning for more for both parents, I'm not sure I am on the same page. I can see how this would make me unpopular though.

  • Energy needs can be met and shouldn't be an argument for using plastic.

The pollution could be more dependending on how you look at that statement, but making something without plastic results in less plastic pollution and you can't claim that to be an overall loss for the earth.

  • Stonehenge tale gets ‘weirder’ as Orkney is ruled out as altar stone origin
  • Stonehenge is the ultimate troll. Thousands of years ago someone convinced a workforce to move a massive rock thousands of miles to a place it didn't belong just to mess with people who later found it with no context.

I like to think if they turned it over it would just have LMAO inscribed.

  • What are your red flags for job interviews?
  • When the benefits listed are the legally required minimum holiday and pension, plus on site parking. Usually these are also paired with a competitive salary.

Edit: it's late, I can't read and wrote about things in a job advert rather than an interview. I'm going to bed, maybe I'll try do some Internet tomorrow.

  • Government to end badger cull within five years in ‘watershed moment’
  • Perhaps, but overall it's a more positive step than continuing indefinitely.

I was only speculating about why, I have no more information available than you. It could be for blood sport, but I think that is far less likely.

The debate around whether or not it has any effects is also fuelled by flawed conclusions on either side of the argument, I'm not wading into that mess...

  • Hello From A New Chicken Keeper

First I want to say hello, I have only 3 lovely chickens to start off with as I learn the ropes.

Secondly, my neighbours son is absolutely obsessed with the chickens. It's really nice, but he is also feeding them huge amounts of wild bird seed and I'm a little worried. There are mounds of the stuff being poured over the fence!

I have spoken to his parents nicely and asked them to stop him doing so, which they understand.

In case this doesn't get resolved quickly, is there any danger that this can cause harm to my chickens?

Does my plant have the plague?

Any idea what this is? Many leaves are dying on the plant, wondering if there is a way to save it. I have forgotten the name of the plant, but will update when I find it.

Edit Ctenanthe Lubbersiana - thanks @squeezeyerbawdy

    Flowering Aglaonema?

I have a dreamcatcher which I thought had a dying leaf or something, but it looks like this could be something like seeds!? There is a second pod which isn't open to the left in the picture.

I don't really know what it is but I'm excited about it. My other aglaonema hasn't grown at all in 2 years!

Anyone tuning in at all on the off weekend for F1? It's nice to see some familiar faces in the teams.

    Blue Steel Convert

I bought a set of three carbon steel pans, and they are amazing. Is this allowed here? They are 99% iron I think.

They are lighter than a full iron pan but you still season them in the same way.

I have had an iron pan dedicated to meat cooking for a few years now, but I'm not sure it will get much use now.

These are new pans, so I'll have to see how they last, but I'm very optimistic.

    Fast food should be expensive.

I get that until recently it was considered normal and relatively cheap, but you are literally paying someone else to make food for you.

It can't be sustainable without exploitation of workers and/or animal welfare to have that available to the majority of people on a regular basis.

If you can only afford fast food as a luxury, to me that seems like a good thing.

Anyone else think this was Graham Norton?

CNN — As the National Book Awards came to a close on Wednesday, finalists for the prestigious literary prizes took the stage in New York to speak about the Israel-Hamas war, with others at the ceremony also choosing to address banned books.

As a non USA resident, I didn't know who this was. Before I read the post that was the name I had in my head.

Seems legit, Google knows what is best for me.

Sorry for the poor quality / lack of screenshot, this is from my work computer which I isolate from my personal devices, so I just took a picture.

    Help wanted: Is this OK?

I was given a Montsera(?) cutting and I don't really know if this leaf is too wrinkled? It's a minefield trying to read about and understand if I have over or under watered. I just don't know what this plant actually wants.

My usual approach is to assume I have over watered if a plant looks unhappy, but I don't know if these bounce back after a period of under watering, if I hold back on watering more now.
