I was scared to click that link but now I can't breathe 😂
Off the top of my head:
Gmail or any email: Thunderbird is pretty sweet and I need to use it more, but mostly just use the web clients anyway.
If you own GoG games, you can use Heroic Launcher instead of GoG Galaxy. It's gotten amazingly good, really fast. :)
More studies are required before we come to any certain conclusions. We require concrete evidence...and rebar evidence...maybe carbon fiber evidence...or...
It was gonna be twins but they deduplicated, so conveniently the one simply holds a reference to the existence of the other one.
Honest question: I thought this limitation was the purpose of exFAT? 🤔
I don't use it much myself though so I'm not sure.
I can't help but try to phonetically call it "BUTTERFURSS". O.o
I want to add to this their absolutely egregious forced kernel-level anti-cheat. It demands full privileged access to a user's machine, and unlike some competing systems, it doesn't want to go away when the game is no longer being played.
The assurance this won't be used or exploited for ultra-malicious purposes across the globe by a corporation owned ultimately by the CCP is...
"Just trust me, bro."
Most of which probably park that van in their 5-car garage between shoots. 😂
LOL Fixed it.
Thought the implied sexual joke (involving an animal even) might get someone dragged into HR if some manager or tattletale coworker happened to be lurking, so thought I'd play it safe. :p
I haven't posted here much and thought "Well if someone was viewing this at work, the implied bestiality joke (and language) might get them into trouble with puritanical management."
But I've been assured it doesn't cross a line, so I fixed it. :)
Fixed. Thanks for the clarification. I also thought the implied bestiality joke might get someone dragged into HR if the wrong dork happened to shoulder-surf them so thought I'd play it safe. :p
High salary? I thought at this point most of their fighting force is getting paid in "Not going back to that gulag for those heinous things you did to people back home."
As a fellow Community Fact Checker with "just trust me bro" accreditation and zero accountability for accuracy, my sources and friends all seem to agree with this assessment as well!
This news is of course, unsurprising, given Mark's recent and infamous "Oh, Llama" controversy, experts agree.
(Sources say the llama has so far declined to comment.)
"allegedly"
Where do you find people deranged enough to do this to other human beings without any rational explanation?
It seems like "everyday sadists" are attracted to positions of petty authority, but it appears to be a requirement to be some kinda psycho to be offered the job at the border.
How many people oversaw this? How many questioned it? How many said nothing?
Woah, that's insane, thanks for adding that.
So basically "You have these rights. . .unless you live within 100 miles of somewhere populated" basically...
Just a reminder to fellow Americans even, that this crap has been going on way too long before this point. There's a rather huge area around our borders dubbed "Constitution-free zones".
Yeah, the "sworn to uphold" types are funny-quiet when it comes to "We can do whatever we want, cry about it." Within 100 miles of ANY land or coastal border.
Americans and visitors (God be with you both), might be wise to get a cheap "travel only" phone with only the bare-necessary logins and information on it, as they move about. Don't bother with your laptop if you can help it.
Don't anticipate basic encryption to do anything against this either. (Although , YES, DO ENCRYPT!)
People have been detained and coerced into unlocking their phones so agents could basically just dump the device to a drive and look through whatever they want.
(No, simply deleted files are not unreadable unless securely wiped, and evidence of wiping your phone beforehand would probably lead to more questioning.)
Within 100 miles of the border of the "land of the free", you have no say in this, and if you try to muster up the courage to resist in the "home of the brave", you'll just face further punishment.
It's unlikely you will get stopped for this purpose unless you have a certain profile-of-the-week or whatever they're looking for, but it's best to keep this in mind.
non-white, non-rich person
And for those wondering, that's definitely an "AND" filter and not an "OR" filter. Lol
That was my thought...
"Somehow they got the Plex app installed..."
Jellyfin somehow works on freaking Roku, even, and WELL. Just give the URL to connect to, they pick a profile, and boom, "Netflix who?".
(Also, unlike Netflix, it's not BOMBARDING my PiHole with a gazillion telemetry requests per freaking second holy crap NF calm down. It's a treat when I have something I want to watch on my Jellyfin drives lol.)
maybe I should try my luck with the command line.
Today's your lucky day! :D Here's a really simple (and fun) way to start trying it out.
https://linuxjourney.com/lesson/the-shell
Such a lovely site.
Something to remember is that even Linux's GUI is essentially just "visual shortcuts" for shell commands. Having the terminal open doesn't necessarily mean mucking about with the complex inner workings of your system. (But you can do that too!)
You can do really simple low-risk things like moving files around, making new text documents, renaming stuff, and starting simple script programs, in your home directory.
Heck, easiest way to make it less intimidating? Update your system with it.
sudo apt update
or
zypper dup
or so on. (Depending on distro)
rm
to remove stuff is the scary command that's worth treating with great respect. Get in the habit now of double checking yourself before slamming enter. I usually move (mv
) things I intend to delete to my /tmp/
directory so I have a chance to fix it, or else it just erases on next reboot.
Oh, and lastly, we've all done it and those who say "Well I never" are lying...but try to avoid copy pasting commands you don't recognize from the internet into your terminal! (Many forum replies are just like "try this long complicated one-liner to fix your issue!")
Harmful commands can be hidden in text weirdly enough. There's examples online but it blew my mind how that was possible. So at the very least, type it out yourself, and it couldn't hurt doing a quick lookup to see what it's supposed to do before committing to it.
The Linux community is often super helpful and lovely, but old posts could potentially be poisoned by bad actors and such, so keep your head up out there. :)
