Like a pediatrician rounding on cystic fibrosis children in the hospital and smoking at their bedside. That's what the early 1980s were like.
  • Good luck! I quit cold turkey after 20 years of smoking, and I started just like you at around 10 or so. The year after I quit was a bit weird, it was hard the first month or so, and got substantially better every day. What helped me not to start again, is that feeling that it might be weird now, but if I start again, that would mean all those terrible first days were for nothing, and I hate suffering with no purpose.
After a year I randomly realised that not only I don't want to smoke anymore, the thought alone is a bit revolting, and that's when I knew that I'm finally done with the whole shit. Gained a bit of weight though, nicotine is a wonderful appetite suppressor, but never regretted it.

  • Today I opened the fridge and two options presented to me was a piece of moldy bread and leftovers that I didn't particularly fancy. I decided that the only logical option would be to punch myself in the nuts as hard as I can. I will not do anything esle and tomorrow I will open the fridge again hoping something will miraculously change.

  • Which software was ahead of its time?
  • I think it died because of technical problems more than anything. We didn't have batteries good enough back then, and the screen wasn't all that good. It was heavy, it had problems with overheating and it worked for couple of hours tops

  • In order for regulations to stick, they should come from the people. If you try to regulate meat consumption without convincing people that it's good, it will just not stick. It needs to be a consolidated effort, and guilting regular people into better choices is a big part of it
