was this not allowed before?
  • Well this is good news. I never owned an Apple product until my recent purchase of an iPad Mini.

I was nervous about switching from an Android tablet, but everything went great until I tried to move my home screen icons where I wanted them, and resize a weather widget the way I wanted it. Neither worked, and I had to laugh at how ridiculous it was.

I'm very much looking forward to version 18 now.

  • My sanity check over Philips Hue terms change (or tell me what I'm doing wrong)
  • I was in the same boat as you, OP. Bunch of Hue products on a Hue bridge, and I switched to Home Assist using the same Sonoff dongle. I installed HA on my NAS in a VM. There was definitely a learning curve, but I was impressed by how quickly Z2M detected my devices. All of my bulbs and a motion sensor are working perfectly, and I have disconnected the Hue bridge. The only device I need to configure is a dimmer switch that I had paired to my livingroom lights. I think that I have to do that manually.

  • What weather apps do you use?
  • If you want to be mildly terrified, do a search on which weather apps do NOT collect and sell your data. Hint: you won't find many.
They are notorious for gathering background data, including your location, obviously.

Unfortunately, most of the weather apps that claim to not sell your data are subscription based and fairly expensive.

I used to be a weather app nerd, but I'm also a privacy advocate, so these days I just use a bookmarked weather website.
