It sold out an arena in Anaheim. So yes it made money. I heard Chavez Jr. was guaranteed 750k with about ~$3mil bonus based on the PPV sales. PPV money is notorious slow and takes ~2 months to be received.

This weapons charge would surely have been a problem when he fought Jake Paul 4 days prior, right? Why do you think it is suddenly a problem afterwards?

I've heard nothing from either government yet. Still currently accusations, no results no evidence. A lot of people connecting some dots, which are that Chavez Jr is recently married to an ex of the El Chapo family, and maybe this is meant to be some sort of example by the Trump admin for whataver reason. If you look back on Chavez Jr's history, he's basically a young rich kid in Mexico and that meant hanging out with the other young rich kids including the rich kids of crime families. Which he's now marrying an in-law of.

He was standing with the president of Mexico as recently as 2 weeks ago. The idea that he had a warrant out for his arrest at that time is clearly bogus.

No. He wasn't meant to. But Jake Paul took some serious punches in the later rounds.

He lives in Mexico. He would have left on his own. It's unclear why ICE felt the need to get involved.

Surely he was legal to be here for the Jake Paul fight which was only 5 days ago. This is quite a shocker. And I question why any Mexican athlete would ever want to step foot in the United States after an incident like this.

We banned single use plastic bags. So the grocery companies started using EXTRA THICK PLASTIC claiming it was 'reusable'. Arguably have been polluting even more since we made that switch.

Hopefully we will finally rid ourselves of plastic grocery bags.

You make an interesting point. If I flip it around. WWI and II both began in a mostly pre-television world. I guess you could say televison has brought safety?

The one thing I'll say in their defense is that a water district board seat, in a special election, is not typically something that generates votes. Perhaps they did that on purpose, thinking the low turnout would help one candidate. We're talking about school board election numbers. The kind of thing where a bus full of people could swing the whole election.

You'll know if it was on purpose or not immediately when we see who won and if they try to stick with the result. If they were out of ballots at 9 am, then they shouldn't even try to count the votes or declare a winner. With the need for a redo being so obvious.

The election is unique in that it is organized and managed by the district itself, not the Louisiana Secretary of State's office, and seats on the board are rarely contested. The race for this particular seat is reported to be the first ever.

So perhaps some degree of incompetence/not having any clue how many people would show up. Not necessarily malicious intent. Seems like it was such a shitshow it'll force a redo. Clearly it should.
