Still is. The real distinction is between American English and the rest of the English-speaking world.
Or for non-language issues...
American units vs. metric, used by almost every other country on the planet.
American rules for a given sport vs. every other country on the planet.
American WHATEVER vs. every other fucking country on planet earth.
I wonder if Webster's "anti-British" sentiment was (part of) the instigation of "American uniquism."
To this day, whatever the world does, the US does it differently, almost as a knee-jerk reaction.
Remember, Facebook started out as a non-consensual 'hot or not' site, to rate women at Zuck's college.
As they grew, they became loudly pious about their 'strong content guidelines' (i.e. you could get banned for a mastectomy picture), but still didn't care about hate speech. Only a month ago, FB refused to take down an explicit call for the lynching of PM Justin Trudeau, and another saying trans kids need to be "raken to the train station." Neither of these violated FB's content regulations.
So framing this as Zuck bending to Trump is misleading. It's much more him taking off his mask of civility, finally.
Like Trump, like Musk, like Poilievre, the man is a weasel and a Nazi.
You're looking extra fancy as well. Lovely.
China doesn't need the USA.
The USA needs China.
'A social media account linked to [Columbia coach Taylor] Claggett also posted anti-trans messages after the game.'
'"We stand in support of Taylor Claggett, and all our coaches, in expressing their legitimate concerns for the safety of our student-athletes," the statement [from the bible college] said.'
Fine. Columbia Bible College should be kicked out of the PacWest conference, and possibly have their academic accreditation revoked.
Fucking hate-based assholes.
Good news, we're going to fix that!
...By blocking FOI requests.
Why?
You're actually asking why?
Because Mark Zuckerberg is a fucking Nazi, just like Trump and Musk.
A more interesting question to me would be "What are the chances that the 2028 elections are allowes to be carried out freely (e.g. without the governing powers forcing the outcome they want)?
If he lives to the end of this term, 100% that he'll try for a third.
By then, it'll be a battle between Republican Nazis who back him blindly, and Republican Nazis who want a more competent puppet in power. Oh, and people who aren't actively supporting fascism. I doubt they'll make a difference.
The UCP kind.
The party has been filled with this sort of scum for ages - violent, homophobic, misogynistic, fascist scum.
I used to see him illegally park his huge shiny pickup truck each mornimg as he dropped off his kid at the charter school operated by the woman who dropped out of the UCP for making extreme remarks.
So to be clear, the UofA is moving beyond the DEI label and language, not abandoning the ideas entirely.
The University of Alberta has announced plans to move away from its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies, saying it will instead organize similar initiatives under a less “polarizing” acronym.
In an Edmonton Journal op-ed published Jan. 2, president Bill Flanagan said the university will move to a policy of “access, community and belonging” in place of DEI.
The entire article is like the headline: empty clickbait, likely written by AI.
Each paragraph starts out with something like 'this section highlights the challenges...' and then fills out with junior-high level fluff and links to entirely unrelated articles.
It's garbage, plain and simple.
As said elsewhere...
Pray that Trump doesn't discover the vindictiveness of Canadiands when our backs are against the wall.
With Trudeau’s resignation lil pp has adopted an election stance.
Oh, it's been going on for a while.
I can't find it right now, but there was a graph posted a few weeks ago showing how much the CPC outspent the other parties on campaign advertising in 2024. It was astounding.
Don't.
Develop real AI, don't rely on bullshit LLMs.
That stupid Nazi fuck may discover just how vicious Canadians can get when defending their country.
That key quote is mostly bullshit.
The study resulted in a clear recommendation for MMP, with a few options as to how to implement it. Most of the other parties in the parliamentary committee said they'd agree with recommendations. Then Trudeau said "No we're not doing that, we're going to go with ranked ballots or nothing at all."
So the only lack of consensus was that Trudeau personally wanted something other than what the experts said would be best for Canada.
