  • Where I live, there's a lot of advertising, but nowhere near as bad as in the US. When I first visited the US, beyond trips to see Dad's brother who lives there, during which we were not there long and all of the children were simply left in the home with some of the adults while others went out, I was astounded at the sheer amount of advertising. I'd never seen giant billboards on the sides of the highway before! Streetside billboards, sure. But not on a highway!

  • Tbh, a huge commie meetup where a bunch of different leftist groups from all over the world are all converging in one place, and telling the country involved's government and the hotel/conference center we were something incredibly lame and apolitical or obviously liberal, would be pretty funny.

  • Ooh, that sounds like a very cool thing.

I need to download and sort some theory to read and put it on my devices... the family camping trip is coming up, there's pretty bad cell service in the campground, and I always get caught out with nothing good to read. As I spend the night before we leave scrambling to pack the final things.

  • Of course capitalism can't be at fault for everything, that'd be too obvious! Blame the trans people and the commies, they make you feel icky so they must be the cause of your problems! All the conservative populists say so! It's not class war, it's obviously queer folks who are the dangerous minority, not the top 1%!

  • A Marxist website needs to look as early-internet/Soviet brutalism in modern form as possible! Reading theory online just doesn't feel right unless the website feels like it's been frozen in time since the end of the bloody Cold War!

Better yet, it should be text only, and look like some sort of super old tech relic from like '90 or '91, that's only updates in 30 years have been for stability and compatibility with the modern 'Net, while not updating anything design wise! Old news articles and site announcements that refer to the USSR in present tense on the homepage! A time capsule of Online Leftism before Online was really a Thing!

(Unless, of course, modern design tools are used to give a feel of "Cold War era if we'd had modern tech back then" which is cool as fuck.)

  • using the books for heat instead of knowledge

Yep, that tracks for your average liberals.

Bunch of terrified liberals hiding in a fortified public library, burning the books for heat, eating the pigeons, and blasting out annoying nonsense over emergency broadcasting, claiming it's Red Dawn out there, while sane people are enjoying a socdem doing a few decent things... that'd make a good story. And sounds about right for post Red Scare Americans.
