Oh, I didn't see the relationship in Rogue One as a love story. By the end, they just hold each other before the inevitable - I see no romance there. I can see how someone might find something there if they wanted to though.

That's the usual reality of voting though. It doesn't mean every American wanted it, but it still means America voted for this.

Well, the people against pride are not the ones thinking love is love. They're the ones thinking love is only right between a cis straight man and woman. This meme is directed at straight allies, not adversaries.

Well, yes, the sad reality is that very many people are rather stupid. This won't change and we should treat it as a fact - people are always going to fall for schemes. I think the fact that they're stupid doesn't mean they deserve to be exploited, though. This is a failure of laws and regulations.

If the overall tone of the book suggests rape is a terrible thing, then it's obvious they're not pro-rape. If the tone sells is as something normal, cool, fascinating, then they're pro-rape. I'm affraid in this case it's possibly the the second option, from what OP describes - the author expresses his pro-life views.
