  • Why Toyota Is Intentionally "Falling Behind" On EVs | Morning Brew (10:10)
  • True hybrids that can get 50+ mpg are better than ICE for sure. But plug-in hybrids are not the way forward. You can travel 20-30 miles on the tiny electric battery then it's a full on ICE vehicle and mpg usage. Environmental impact on those plug-in hybrids is way worse the more miles you drive, really only a good fit for low mileage drivers that will be consistent with plugging in at home.

  • I firmly believe protestors have a right to shut down busy highways, freeways, places of business and higher education.
  • I'm 100% ok with places of business or college campuses!

I'm not ok with freeways/highways, though. People having medical emergencies could die while stuck on the highway. I'm a Type 1 Diabetic and have had some really scary incidents needing to get home and get food or soda because my sugar was low. If I was delayed 20 or 30 minutes by an unexpected road shutdown, I would have died.

  • Amazon, Walmart, and Target finally realize their colossal pricing mistake—now they’re slashing costs to win back customers
  • They've even started getting worse with their apps. I got a notification recently that one of the apps (target) will have fluctuating prices. My understanding is it's demand based increases. While walking around the store one time I looked at items in the app and most of them were higher than on the shelves.

They've spent years pushing people to get comfortable with app shopping and easy pickup... Now they're going to squeeze every penny out of that crowd that they can.

  • Reminder...
  • Yeah, but.... Oftentimes criticizing Biden helps trump. I'd rather not even risk it at this point.

Can we spend more energy celebrating that trump is NOT the president and how bad it would be if he comes back?

  • Majority of Americans wrongly believe US is in recession – and most blame Biden
  • I completely respect your points and opinions here. Trying to be a realist myself... I don't see Trump doing shite to help the average American though economically. He'll help big oil, wall street execs, and he'll keep fueling the divide over social issues.

Let's be real, trump doesn't care about us and it's worth reminding voters of that.

  • Victoria [Australia] bans gas rebates and incentives for homes as shift to all-electric gathers pace
  • I'm also pro-electric for the betterment of shifting to renewables, etc., but I also understand that people who have been using gas for a long time will need to adjust. Goodonya for being willing to adjust at least! And as someone else here said (kind of) - not all electric units are made equally so you might have to do some research/experimentation to see what works best for ya

  • EV buying help

Been searching for my first EV and I'm down to an Audi Q4 e-tron or a Volvo XC40. I don't make a lot of money so I'm going to have to lease instead of buy (Q4 leases about 10% cheaper than the XC40).

I've test driven and like both of them a lot - maybe leaning towards the Volvo just for comfort level. I like the Lightning too but dealers on Ohio won't budge and they don't lease well.

Anyone have any feedback on the XC40 or Q4? Pros or cons you can mention from owning one of these?

    HB 68 announcement tomorrow
www.10tv.com DeWine announces decision on bill that would ban gender-affirming care for minors, transgender athletes in girls sports

DeWine had 10 days to make a decision on the bill that was approved by the Ohio House and Senate earlier this month.

Announcement happening tomorrow morning. I have very little faith in DeWine showing the slightest care for trans teenagers... but I'm still holding onto hope somehow. As a trans person who couldn't come out when I was younger, let me just say it is MUCH harder as an adult to start to transition. If he visited hospitals and talked to doctors about what kinds of treatments are available for anyone under 18, he knows that treatments for youth are NOT surgeries like some people lie about. Let these people live their lives and get the Rx care they need.

No matter your opinion on trans people playing sports, do not make decisions against someone's healthcare because of the sports issue! Lives are on the line with this.

Child's other mom is turning my kiddo anti-science and anti-vaccine. Help me fight the good fight!

My 11 year old spends 50% of his time with an anti-science and anti-vaccine family. Single parent me (in Ohio) doesn't have a lot of support when I've tried to help fight some of those thoughts he's been brainwashed with in the name of religion. I'm christian, but his other household is extremists. "You believe in science too much" and "cavemen never existed" are things he's said in the last year. He's a straight A very smart child, he's just been brainwashed and I want to try to help him before it gets worse.

What kinds of shows, books, documentaries can I expose him too to make him think more critically about some of these things so he understands science is real and vaccines work?

He does get into Veritasium on YouTube, so I feel like that's a step in the right direction for science and critical thinking.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Cheers
