  • I do. As such, I find it mystifying that with such a narrow lead in Congress, the republicans are shredding the constitution with no meaningful resistance. There is no supermajority in the legislature today, and yet the TAKE IT DOWN act sailed through with zero issues, and, in fact, unanimous democratic support. Don't tell me that Biden was too worried about convention, because he issued pre-emptive pardons for his staff and family; he was worried enough about fascism to bend the rules for him and his, just not worried enough about it to do the same for the rest of us.

  • No. Fascism didn't spring fully formed into existence in 2024 like Athena from Zeus's head. We spent forty years building the tools that they're using today, each time with thunderous applause and assuring ourselves "well, I guess it's okay this time, because we have a really good reason, and fascism is okay if you have a good reason". The democrats FUCKING CAMPAIGNED on Trump being a dangerous fascist FOR 12 YEARS! That's enough time to say "oh shit, maybe we better not leave the tools of fascism laying around for fascists, or at least not make more of them." But nope, Trump won and Obama and Biden went "lol ok" and left him every tool he'd need. We beat Trump in 20 and went "well, good thing that's over lmao" and didn't do a goddamn thing to fix the underlying problem. The democrats have, at every possible turn, embraced creating the tools of a police state, resisted dismantling them, and insist on being shocked when we, at long last, take the mask off and say "jk, we really are a police state lmao"

  • RFK has a disease, he can't help that he speaks the way he does. I know the fascists wouldn't cut anyone slack over it, but I personally hate dunking on people about stuff they can't change about themselves-- it's part of why I'm not a fascist. Tbh, I hate hearing him speak, but it's because it sounds like it's tremendously painful for him to talk, and I wish he would stop putting himself in these situations that require him to speak. Apart from that, I also wish he would shut the fuck up and go find a field and stand in it.

  • I'm not very charitable to Trump, because he doesn't deserve it. I watched this particular clip and I got big "technically illiterate boomer who doesn't realize that any grade schooler can put 'M', 'S', '1', '3' on HIS hands in MS paint" vibes from him. That doesn't give him a pass in this situation, it's 2025, I expect the president to be vaguely aware of the technological capabilities of 98% of personal computers put on the market since 1998. It's also possible, I suppose, that he's aware it's a shoop and doesn't believe other people are capable of spotting it as being an edited photo; I can see him being a big enough narcissist to really believe that everybody else is really that stupid. I mean, I guess I can't blame him, just look at his rallies.

  • Conservatives don't care about addressing or preventing crime. Because they fundamentally believe that bad things can't happen to good people, ergo if anything bad happens to you then you deserve it, they're ultimately a-okay with just having cops execute suspects on the spot.

  • Honestly, same position as mainstream democrats. Fascism is fine when it's my side doing it, the problem is when other people are in charge of fascism. Better to have no fascism, but that's an apparently extremist take these days.

Edit: democrats offered a LOT of support to the Patriot act (voted for it nearly unanimously in the Senate), passed the USA FREEDOM ACT almost unanimously with their Republican peers, passed the TAKE IT DOWN act unanimously with their Republican peers, embraced anti-immigration sentiment and policy, and also offered much support for creating the tools of fascism during the war on terror and war on drugs that are currently being used by this administration to hurt people. Bill Clinton passed one of the immigration laws that Trump is currently using to oppress immigrants, though the name of the law escapes me at the moment. The democrats have always been quite happy to have the tools of fascism laying around, as long as they're in the hands of wise, enlightened leadership (like them!). All you have to do is simply never lose an election, and it's not like that's going to be a problem, right?

  • Biden didn't do anything to roll it back, either, AFAIK. The democrats built their 2024 campaign on "Trump is a dangerous fascist" (and he is) right up until they shitcanned it when that kid took a shot at him. Well, they said he was a dangerous fascist, but they sure didn't act like it, and they left all the tools he would need handily lying around for him.

  • No, fuck that. You can't reasonably expect to spend 300 hours a year doing research in all manner of different matters to make sure they accidentally don't end up getting rocked by the cops. How about the cops do some fucking research before they yeet a flashbang in with a baby and deny responsibility?

This whole situation is a "should never happen" that, in a just world, would at least cost someone their job.

  • Mostly because when I switched my personal machine, there were a few small, weird issues with everything from not being able to do multiplayer on indie games to the grass, and only the grass as opposed to everything green, being blue in Baldur's Gate 3. Working through those problems didn't bother me, I've got the gumption and patience for it, the rest of my family does not. I'm giving the game industry a bit more time to smooth things out before I move the family gaming machine over.

  • Okay, are we all here? Let's discuss Jeb Blinkersen, 29, of 39 waukee way, Minnesota. Have we done anything to ruin his life lately? Looks like he got a raise recently, shit, we've got to get ahead of this NOW. Johnson, I want you to breed up some samples of that bat-whale-bear virus we've been incubating in RFK, and make sure there's an accident. Stevens, call his boss and tell him to send the factory to China OR ELSE. Yeah, they probably won't like the higher profit margins, but make it clear they have no choice. We'll show Jeb to let his guard down. Good meeting everyone, let's meet again next week about Amanda Hugenkiss, priority omega seven; Zuckerberg says she seems actually happy and she might be trying to leave Facebook.

  • The NSA mass surveillance program that Snowden blew the whistle on was found unconstitutional during Obama II. THAT SAME AFTERNOON, the Republican Congress and Senate passed the (I shit you not, this is what this MF is named) USA FREEDOM ACT that basically re-instantiated the program and Obama signed it straightaway. Turns out, they were able to get shit done quick and in a hurry when the shit was fascism.
