  • Oh yeah, I had the same thing. Dietician told me I could have 50g of carbs with every meal.

    "Yeah, no I can't."

"Who told you that? 'The Internet'?"

"No, my blood sugar meter told me that!"

  • As a diabetic... we actually need both.

When I was first diagnosed, there was no diet plan. I was looking for "for breakfast, eat this, for lunch, eat this, for dinner, eat this."

Nobody has a plan like that and as it turns out, there are reasons for that.

Every diabetic reacts differently through the day and what works for me may not work for someone else.

All you can do is continually test with the meter and when you hit an adverse reaction, stop doing that.

My wife finds weird blood sugar fluctations when she has a hot shower, I don't.

When I'm running low, my go-to to raise sugars is dairy, milk, ice cream, etc, but not every diabetic can do that.

So "learn to cook" or "learn what not to cook" is not the answer, you'd have to have a brain worm to think that... oh, wait...

  • There really is no good answer to the problem Trump has created here:

    1. Deport a US citizen because her parents are undocumented.
    2. Deport the parents and put the kid in a cage foster care, separating the family.
    3. Deny her birthright citizenship.
    4. Acknowledge that the parents are undocumented but allow them to stay because "anchor baby".

Really what needs to happen is you give the parents a path to citizenship, but Trump would never allow that.

  • If you want a trippy show, see if you can find David Lynch's "On The Air".

Apparently following the OG Twin Peaks cancellation, there was still a contractual obligation to fill and Lynch pulled together some of the same cast for a wacky 1950s era show about television production.

There are bootlegs floating around from a Japanese laserdisc, but as far as I'm aware, that's the only home release that was ever made.

7 episodes were produced, only 3 made it to air in the US.

  • You don't feel bad because they are an influencer who happened to be a child, you feel bad because they are a child who happened to be an influencer.

Your priorities are backwards. A kid got killed, it doesn't matter WHAT their side-hustle was.

  • Expect EVERYTHING to cost more than the Army says. ;)

  • Took 6 years for the deepfake/AI technology to catch up...

  • I disconnected both of my smart TVs from the internet and have yet to tell the difference. :)

  • I noticed that with squirrels too! They would have one call if there was a cat in the yard and a completely different call if there was MORE than one cat in the yard.

  • No, no they did not. Stop listening to Breitbart:

    https://apnews.com/article/social-security-payments-deceased-false-claims-doge-ed2885f5769f368853ac3615b4852cf7

"Part of the confusion comes from Social Security’s software system based on the COBOL programming language, which has a lack of date type. This means that some entries with missing or incomplete birthdates will default to a reference point of more than 150 years ago. The news organization WIRED first reported on the use of COBOL programming language at the Social Security Administration.

Additionally, a series of reports from the Social Security Administration’s inspector general in March 2023 and July 2024 state that the agency has not established a new system to properly annotate death information in its database, which included roughly 18.9 million Social Security numbers of people born in 1920 or earlier but were not marked as deceased. This does not mean, however, that these individuals were receiving benefits.

The agency decided not to update the database because of the cost to do so, which would run upward of $9 million.

A July 2023 Social Security OIG report states that “almost none of the numberholders discussed in the report currently receive SSA payments.” And, as of September 2015, the agency automatically stops payments to people who are older than 115 years old."

  • Popeye and the Jeep! Yay!

    How about these two scamps?

  • Mtv alone inspired a burst of creativity that hasn't been matched since. In music, video, direction, art design, set design... Nothing comes close.

  • I've told you twice, you're just refusing to see it. The goal of the Trump administration is to inspire fear. Full stop. Federal workers, immigrants, students, business owners, it's all fear all the time.

It's not about the budget or efficiency and it never has been. Thinking otherwise is delusional.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/04/us/politics/fear-trump.html

  • Again, it's not about spending and never has been. It's about making people afraid. Pay attention when they tell you this, if you buy the lies then you are complicit:

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/feb/10/who-is-russell-vought-trump-office-of-management-and-budget

“We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected,” Vought said in a video revealed by ProPublica and the research group Documented in October. “When they wake up in the morning, we want them to not want to go to work, because they are increasingly viewed as the villains. We want their funding to be shut down … We want to put them in trauma.”

Cutting the funding is how they make people afraid. It's the tool, not the goal.

  • LOL - What if I told you that is not DOGE's mission and it never was?

The whole point of DOGE was to make federal employees AFRAID. That's it, and in that, and only that, they have been supremely effective:

    https://www.apa.org/monitor/2025/06/federal-workers-manage-uncertainty

    https://www.npr.org/sections/shots-health-news/2025/02/24/nx-s1-5304255/federal-workers-fired-mental-health

    https://theconversation.com/trumps-moves-to-strip-employment-protections-from-federal-workers-threaten-to-make-government-function-worse-not-better-248086

This has been the stated purpose from the beginning. If you believe otherwise, then you missed them telling you this:

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/feb/10/who-is-russell-vought-trump-office-of-management-and-budget

As always, the cruelty is the point. It's NEVER been about efficiency.

  • Had a lot going on and completely missed this until just now...

  • You are now a Disney Princess. Congrats!

  • Not sure if this was the original post or edited later, but this is now a link to flip.it which is some kind of re-direct to the FastCompany source.

We require you use the OG source, not some weird middle-man.

If you update the link to the actual source, this can be restored.
