  • I feel the same but if I look back, there are just as much problems as now. I think that is because the 'now' is always more intense than the past events. Just think about it, do you remember every sad day or fight that you had in the past? Hopefully not but you do remember it if it was in the last 7 days.

Some problems from the past are: The crime peak of the 90s. New York City had 2245 murders in 1990. Since 2012 it has not been over 500 per year.

Or take Gaza and Isreal. That region has been a war zone since forever but peaked in 2023,2024.

Or Ukraine. That has only been independent since 1991. Tension in eastern Europe is not new. What is new is that it has been stable for the last 30 years.

Fascism, wars, corruption, etc will come and go and will continue to do so.

  • I have no idea about the situation in the US but normally prices will always go up because inflation. Sometimes the price will flatline or go down for a bit because of lower interest rate on a loan but the also more people want to buy. More buyers == higher prices.

Some time ago I heard a story about a couple buying a house in the 80s in a big city for an extreme high price. Now that house is worth 20x more than it used to be.

But then again, I have no idea about the situation in your country. In my country even the cheapest houses are made to last at least 80 years.

  • Investing is something you do for the long run. Investing today and getting it all out in a month will probably make you lose money. The market will always go up and down but zooming out, it will go up. Investing in the long run will make you money. Investing in the short run, will make you vulnerable for market ups and downs.

So my tip is, invest a monthly a fixed amount of money every month (dollar-cost average) and don't touch it for the next 5 years. Yes, also keep your hands off it when the market is going down.

  • What worked for me was getting allergies under control with medication. I used too have red eyes at least 3 times a week and full time irritated. Because of that, my eyes were always a bit swollen and thus my prescription was different than it should

  • Yes, sure, the war will end if Ukraine's money and weapons will be taken away. It's basically saying: if Ukraine will surrender, the war is over.. The problem is that the costs of Ukraine surrender is higher than the destruction of the war.

  • Not what your asking but, I have a backup hard disk at my workplace. I have the same size disk at home and when I need to update something on my backup, I copy it to the at home disk. I bring that to work and bring back the other disk home. This way, there is always a backup away from home. All encrypted so nobody can steal the data.

Other options can be a friend or family member.

And for other stuff I also have it on Google Drive.

  • So the only way of breaking the cycle is to keep the GOP in power for 8 or 12 years. Result is a massive decline and nobody to blame but themselves. But yeah, that probably won't work because someone else still gets the blame..

  • Try installing an older version, login and then upgrade too the latest version.

Maybe an older version of WhatsApp does not have the check that is blocking you from logging in.

Also, there is no adblocking or alternative dns that is blocking some calls to the WhatsApp server?

  • It depends on the kind of immigrant. You have students, high educated workforce, people that flee from war/not safe to stay country and people that just want a (economic) better life.

I think too much of any immigration can cause maybe an issue that the majority of people are new and that the culture (how do we interact with each other, what is acceptable behavior etc) has not settled.

  • No, I have the same experience. Especially if you want to search for local stuff in my country. It is like my country (Netherlands) does not exist Kagi.

For general topics it is ok I guess. I do have premium but I am barely using it anymore. I use Qwant.

  • For jacks I always assume that it can break at any moment. That is why I put the spare tire under the car when I have the car lifted. If the jack breaks, the car will fall on the tire and not on my face.

  • I remember one time that I was in a traffic jam in the city that I was not familiar in. There where two lanes. I needed to go to the right so I went to the right lane. I waited and waited. The left lane already were driving. And then the car in front of me turned off his lights. The person left the car. Weird.. I was between parked cars. I was there for a good 10 minutes.

  • People have met their partner in a video game? I don't know dude.. Don't count on that chance of happening.

Anyway, stop focusing on not trying to be lonely. It will only make you more lonely.

  • Sure, but if there is too much electricity on the net, things will start to break. That electricity has to go somewhere. No one wants to buy electricity because everyone is trying to get rid of their surplus.

About the negative, I don't know.
