You better be ready to adopt a kid, because you pretty much are. My long term partner had a 2 year old when we started dating. I'm pretty much the only stable father they've had for 10 years now. You're not just dating the parent, you're dating the family.
None of those problems get solved if you use the enormity of the task to excuse giving up. Everyone working on these projects is well aware of these issues. It does not devalue the work. But do not confuse my support of continuing towards the goal with support for goofballs like Elon Musk.
If we had listened to people like you during the infancy of the US space program we would have deprived the world of a lot of technological progress.
We set sail on this new sea because there is new knowledge to be gained, and new rights to be won, and they must be won and used for the progress of all people. For space science, like nuclear science and all technology, has no conscience of its own. Whether it will become a force for good or ill depends on man, and only if the United States occupies a position of pre-eminence can we help decide whether this new ocean will be a sea of peace or a new terrifying theater of war. I do not say that we should or will go unprotected against the hostile misuse of space any more than we go unprotected against the hostile use of land or sea, but I do say that space can be explored and mastered without feeding the fires of war, without repeating the mistakes that man has made in extending his writ around this globe of ours. There is no strife, no prejudice, no national conflict in outer space as yet. Its hazards are hostile to us all. Its conquest deserves the best of all mankind, and its opportunity for peaceful cooperation may never come again. But why, some say, the Moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask, why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas? We choose to go to the Moon. We choose to go to the Moon... We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too.
As machines they are cool. But they just encourage people who can afford them to drive like complete twats.
That's the first Amendment to our constitution that you like.
A blessing and a curse.
What? Have you existed the last 10 years?
That latter requirement is usually a good indicator of the former requirement. Companies that take care of their people typically end up making quality products.
While I agree Earth first. But just like most humans you are underestimating our level of risk. There is a very legitimate reason to have a goal of not putting all our eggs in one planet. That's just a much more long term goal than our climate issues, but we shouldn't stop trying to progress our technology for that end.
100% but half of people living there would think this is some liberal plot and ignore it anyway.
RIP Florida. Also if it were to show average insurance premium double RIP Florida. That would honestly be as good if not better than the climate indicators.
No Internet for the device
Considering some states are already doing criminal investigations around miscarriages, probably.
The GOP would have you tried for murder if you didn't incubate. I'm not sure why you think their stance of not allowing women control of their own bodies would change.
I don't really enjoy the "gore porn" sub-genre that lots of horror has devolved into. But have seen a lot of the worst ones due to their cultural significance.
There's been two times I've felt physically ill when reading books. Once was the pool scene in Chuck Palahniuk's Haunted and when the murderer describes his actions in Jon Krakauer's Under the Banner of Heaven.
That latter one is not for the faint of heart, especially troubling if you're a parent with a young child.
So gory imagery has a decidedly negative impact when reading. I've never felt sick watching a film, and I've watched the worst in that department.
Those 14TB WD drives are workhorses. I run refurbished ones in my home server and have never had any issues. And they are significantly faster than the rest of my spinning rust drives.
Is literally every business closed all weekend where you live? Or is this just another case of people not realizing that lots of people work holidays and weekends?
Businesses are already legally required to let people leave to vote.
Jokes on you, I only wear zoot suits.

Before the pandemic there were a few homeassistant/smart home YouTubers on the floor of CES every day putting videos out about the new devices they saw throughout the day. I haven't seen any of them doing that since the pandemic.
Anyone know of one that is still doing that or the best place to get summaries of new devices from CES with a smart home focus?
