[SOLVED] After migrating my custom domain to icloud+: Some Questions
    1. There's an article on Apple Support about importing mail here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/icloud/mmf9877972f7/1.0/icloud/1.0

    2. I think this is a Thunderbird issue. They are separate in Mail.app. It even allows you to use a catch-all rule if you're the domain owner. Maybe you could set up smart mailboxes (or whatever the Thunderbird equivalent is, I've not used it in probably 15 years)?

  • Does using the -arrs use insane amounts of disk space?
  • Plex can be set to auto delete. You can set it to delete after something has been watched (after a delay if you want), or to keep a pre-set number of items (e.g. only keep the five latest episodes of show X) or a combination.

Just make sure you set up the *arrs to not re-download the thing that Plex auto deletes.

I'm a hoarder so I keep a lot, but anything that's time-sensitive like current affairs shows, I delete after watch and set to only keep the latest three episodes.

  • MacOS issue commenting

I've been having an issue on MacOS where I can only comment once, and can't comment again until I refresh the app (or quit it and restart). Basically the first comment works fine, then a second comment (doesn't have to be on the same post, or even community) won't work because the text input box disappears.

I'm using it as a saved app in Safari and I'm on a beta version of MacOS (Sonoma, current dev beta) - the saved app feature is new to Sonoma.

Appreciate this isn't going to be the highest priority given I'm on a beta, but Voyager is so nice as a saved app in Sonoma in all other ways I can image lots of people wanting to do it.

"These are going to be worth a fortune some day"
  • It was, yeah. The market crashed pretty much over night too. Really obvious in hindsight, but if you're making six figures from reselling the things you're probably too close to really notice the wider picture.

  • Any sites you guys use for good quality Premiere League soccer streams? Rip navmix :(
  • The service I used to use shut down about six months ago and I'm yet to find a good replacement. So if anyone wants to put some words in my mouth (ugh, not sure I should have gone with that phrase) I'll gladly accept. Seems like most of the "recommended" ones are referrals to scams, or have weird limitations (like not making the M3Us available, so you can't hook in to Plex, for example).

  • What ad blocker do you use on your iPhone?
  • Yep, exactly what I do. Has the advantage of also blocking in-app ads and some of Apple's data collection. It also gives you complete control over what you block and don't block, lets you see stats etc. Can't really be beat.

  • Twitter Blue subscribers can now hide their blue checks
  • But when you see a reply from a small account with few interactions high up under a popular post, you’re still going to know it’s a paying simp.

It’s like putting a clown nose whilst wearing your nazi uniform. People can still see the uniform, but now they also think you’re a clown.

  • Sync for Lemmy - Now Released on Play Store
  • Hopefully the native version, coming soon, will be a bit smoother than the pwa and have better integration with the OS.

It’s probably the best pwa I’ve ever used, but it’s still a pwa. And the native version will still just be a wrapper on the pwa, but it has the potential to be better.

  • A quarter of Brits want a ban on fake grass
  • I’ve literally never even seen, or even heard of, a gas mower. Almost all of them are electric (and our electricity mix isn’t perfect, but is better than a lot of places) with the odd one being petrol for especially large gardens, but that’s increasingly rare.

Why the fuck would anyone use gas? That would be awful. Do you mean natural gas from the mains? Hydrogen? Bottled Calor gas? I’ve absolutely no idea what a gas mower could even be and searching is giving zero results that make sense.

  • HS2 is officially ‘unachievable’ after being given red rating
  • It's not, so far as I can tell, saying that the project cannot be done. The Red rating, equivalent to unachievable, is measuring against the goals set for the project, including financial.

So what this is saying (or rather confirming) is that it's not achievable based on the current project goals. Or to put it another way, it's over budget and cannot be delivered within budget.

So yeah, still not great that we can't deliver something like this on budget, but if you look in to how it was originally costed for the business case there are holes in the logic large enough to drive several high speed trains through. Sideways. Hopefully the benefits are large enough that they still go through with it, but I suspect that's largely dependent on which narratives take hold during the run up to the next election and whether the Tories can gaslight people in to thinking that country finances work the same way as personal finances.

  • Why barbie is more popular than Oppenheimer?
  • Hasn’t seen Barbie yet asserts that 1) Another movie is better and 2) the movie they’ve not seen is “woke shit”.

Yep, about the level of discourse I’d expect from someone who uses the word “woke” unironically.

Also, i strongly suspect you’re not getting your opinions from trailers, but rather from the typical brain dead right wing mouthpieces who completely missed the point of Barbie, because of course they did.

  • Infuriating Password Policies
  • Lots of sites do it on the email fields for some reason. I’m far more likely to miss type my email address, twice, than my password manager is likely to somehow complete it wrong.
