DOOM: The Dark Ages | Review Thread

  • I loved the animated shorts, but that's about it. The game needs a serious overhaul so it doesn't look like a very generic shooter.

  • Yes and there would be a 50% chance it would permanently wreck your PC

  • That is one tall dog, wow

  • It was all graphics and zero substance in my opinion. Most of them fell flat and barely told a story, the writing was extremely generic and I was rolling my eyes hard for most episodes. The armored core one was cool, but then you have ones like Megaman and Spelunky that took popular franchises and had zero idea what to do with them.

The pixelated cover saved me. I never played it, but somehow recognized the image.

I'm with you, this straight up looks like death stranding to me.

  • cough, Risk of Rain 2 on console, cough

I still remember when they somehow broke the Xbox version and nobody could get past the start menu.

  • I checked this out but its too retro for me. When I think of great Retro games, my mind goes to the SNES and '90s arcade games. These Atari games are rough to play.

  • Oh we're bringing back the culture war ragebait subreddit to Lemmy? Lovely.

  • It's released in the sense that they have a recovery image to reinstall it on officially supported devices, it isn't the desktop SteamOS release people are saying it is. You still shouldn't use it as a normal distro

  • No it's not

Does this mean I can install SteamOS on any device? We expect most SteamOS users to get SteamOS preinstalled on a Steam Deck or device that incorporates SteamOS. The only devices officially supported on SteamOS right now are Steam Deck and Legion Go S.

  • Labor is significantly cheaper in Asia compared to the US. Simple as. If you compare the budget of an anime compared to an average American show, it's night and day.

This isn't a good thing. Eastern animators are often overworked and earning less than minimum wage compared to the U.S.

  • I've heard nothing but bad things for this season, and I was already miffed at how mediocre Secret Level was, so I'm part of that 50% that didn't bother

  • The original Mortal Kombat movie. The newest Sonic movie was also pretty good imo.

But yes, this can probably go very wrong.

  • If anything I wish competition in the laptop space would be fiercer. We know Nvidia and AMD are making ARM chips but it might be a while, all we have now are Snapdragon and they aren't very good.

  • DONT USE UNETBOOTIN. This tool more often than not breaks something and causes issues for people. Somebody I know used it and broke booting into Windows, he had to use a USB anyway to fix the bootloader.

  • Nice to see they're still updating PoE 1. Too many people have been worried they'd abandon that game and focus on the sequel.

  • I can see an Elden Ring movie happening but... A24? The only way this could work is either if it's animated (it's not) or if it's going to be incredibly high budget.

There is potential this could be good because there are a lot of stories that could be told before the shattering, but I'm not optimistic.

  • It's more like:

    Quicksave

Pickpocket an NPC - 70% chance

    THIEF! GUAAARRRDDSSS-

    Quickload

Repeat until you succeed for every single NPC
