Average systemd debate
  • Not really interested in debating with average "I run arch btw" user. We are not in the same universe, things I have to audit and maintain are not in the same universe with things you do, so having such a smart advice coming from you is not a surprise at all. I could, after all, just roll out my own distro if I am not happy, amirite?

I run systemd machines because I don't have a choice. It doesn't make it any less of a shit. Simple as that.

But hey, tell me some more about systemd, I am really new to all this 🤔

  • Average systemd debate
  • "Just avoid places that sysadmins and security guys frequent and get your opinions on systemd from memes and people running arch on home machine". Great plan.

Systemd is absolute and utter shit, especially from security perspective.

Noone was asking security guys but package maintainers.

My favorite systemd thing is booting up a box with 6 NICs where only 1 was configured during the initial setup. Second favorite is betting on whether it will hang on reboot/shutdown.

    Great tool, 10/10.

  • Racism, misogyny, lies: how did X become so full of hatred? And is it ethical to keep using it?
  • "Journalists" still love Twitter because they don't need to do any real investigative work anymore, they just report on "he said, she said" idiocy. Instant drama and source of clicks.

So much of news these days seem to be "someone said something (on Twitter)".

    Gossip generation...

  • Suspicion that Reddit is weeding out human users
  • The only thing I still use reddit for is to browse Fortnite sub sometimes (once every few days), on a desktop (Firefox with ublock) and if I post anything it's useless shit.

I got a reddit (not sub) warning for personal attacks.

In a message that said "Fuck you, EPIC".

If i remember correctly, warning even implied that it was an automated warning.

Works great. Can't wait to post even more nonsensical shit there.

  • Tim Walz is giving MAGA a master class in manhood
  • You are missing the point.

    That's what MAGA assumes.

And Walz is there to prove their assumptions wrong.

I can also tell you that most military personnel I met in my life were not 'manly' people in any way. Just normal and decent people.

It's MAGA mongoloids that link military to manhood. Or guns. Or football. Or beer.

Edit: and what is really amusing to me is that zi am not American, nor life there, but I did get excited about Walz. Because he seems like a normal human being. Imagine how crazy the world is when we get excited about (apparently) a normal human being in politics.

  • "Google has been very bad": Trump warns Google may be "shut down" in rant
  • Not in the news. But I am not American, I don't watch what Trump has to say (or rather, I barely watch news for years).

Years ago I used to hear him talk while he was president and it was really cringe but this transcript from the first reply just seems a bit surreal. Insane, rather.

Edit: I was curious enough to go visit the article URL and take a look at the video but there doesn't seem to be a video of the Fox clip they write about (or ublock/etc hide it). Maybe it's for the best... 😁

  • Report: Samsung's top boss angry at the mobile division for copying Apple
  • Of course they didn't.

Bands like that exist for a very, very long time, mostly on 'manly' watches (for outdoor, pilot watches, etc).

But in this context, yeah they seem to be just copying what Apple did, probably looking at it as a safe bet. So silly.
