KDE Calculator shortcut to delete the current calculation

I'm using Kalk and when I try to use the letter C to delete the current calculation, it puts 1 C in the calculator, and when I try the delete key, it doesn't do anything. Does anyone know what the shortcut is to delete the current calculation?

Thoughts or experiences of emulation in the Pixel 6 Pro?

I have no interest in playing or emulating on the Pixel 6 Pro, but I am interested in knowing how it performs under emulation (especially under the most recent emulators, like Yuzu), any experience?

I have almost all extensions installed and most of them are working according to Cloudstream's own provider provider, but when I do a search (for example, Batman) it only returns 3 results from 3 providers, does anyone else have this problem?

Android custom ROM with rooting support

So I'm interested in buying a Pixel 8 to install GrapheneOS in it but I'm also interested in rooting it and from what I've read rooting your device with a privacy focused custom ROM like GrapheneOS beats the purpose of installing it, so I don't know if it's actually posible to do it or if it actually has any grace, honestly I just want to be able to install some Xposed modules and be able to auto-update my Droid-ify apps in the backgrounds without user interaction.

Excuse my ignorance in the subject, I have never rooted or installed a custom rom before.

what lemmy web app do you use and why?
  • Hey OP, I love you! I never used a Lemmy WebApp because I see no sense in it, but I tried Photon because of some comments in your post and holy fuck I have missed so much! It's incredible that I can even have two accounts at the same time from different instances without changing the URL!

  • Youtube Music frond-ends like ViMusic for Linux

So there are so many Youtube front-ends for Android like ViMusic/RiMusic, spmp, SimpMusic and a big etc.. They basically extract the music and add a lot of functionality to the app like translating lyrics, downloading/caching songs, local playlists without Google account, radio mode and that kind of thing.

I know of three programs of this type for Linux (or desktop OS in general) and they're Moosync, Nuclear Music Player and Youtube-music.

I love Moosync but I miss the radio mode feature that I use a lot in Android apps, then Nuclear I haven't used for years since I know Moosync and Youtube-music doesn't appeal to me at all because it's just a Youtube music web application with plugins... and it doesn't even have local playlists...

So, does anyone know of any other programs of this kind that actually support radio mode and local playlists?

I wish I could donate ONE TIME to Eternity dev so he know that there's still people that love his work, but the only platform to donate that I found in Eternity's Codebers is Liberapay which I couldn't find an "one time" donation, just subscriptions (weekly, monthly or yearly) and yeah, there's "manual renewal" but I don't want to have reminders of my one time donation.

Is there an app to open others apps in the background without user interaction?

I have some apps which I need them to synchronize in the background but they don't, even with battery optimization turned off. I've tried using an app called PhoneProfilesPlus but I don't need whole profiles, I just want an app to be opened and that's it.

Another problem I have and this may be at purpose for Android security reasons, is that even with PhoneProfilesPlus, when I set up an app to be opened in the background, the app only opens specifically when I turn on my screen, and for some dumb reasons the apps that I mentioned need to be in the main screen to be synchronized.

The only way that Whatsapp let you back up your chats is using by linking a Google account, but I'm not sure is there's some workaround like a third parties apps that let you back up your chats.

I know that using a third parties apps to this purpose is unsafe, but I'm just giving an example.

A simple music app using YouTube Music for backend - maxrave-dev/SimpMusic

GitHub - maxrave-dev/SimpMusic: A simple music app using YouTube Music for backend

My apologies if this seems like an advertisement, I am simply a very grateful user of this project who cannot donate at this time but at least wants to share it with others.

SimpMusic is a Youtube Music front-end similar to ViMusic (or its fork, RiMusic), as such it is not a local music player, but it takes music from Youtube and plays it in an interface similar to Spotify but with its differences.

To give a brief introduction of the app, I summarized the functions that I find most interesting:

    • The app has the ability to download music but usually if you listen to any song it is saved as a cache, so you don't need to download it.

    • The app allows you to see and listen to all the songs in the album of the song you are listening to, and sometimes even includes history and descriptions of that album.

    • The app provides lyrics for most songs using MusicMatch, which are also stored on your device if you have already listened to the song.

    • The app has Sponsorblock support so if your song has filler parts, you can remove them using it.

    • The metadata in the app is generally correct with the song you listen to, contrary to what has happened to me when downloading music from Youtube and then playing it on your local player.

Unfortunately the app has no support for PC (or Linux), but if you are interested in something similar there is Moosync which serves almost the same purpose.

Why is Qemu so damn slow on HDDs?

I have a pretty decent PC that I use to virtualize from time to time. I've used VirtualBox and it worked perfectly but I wanted to give the jump to Qemu and using KVM the difference in performance is huge but ONLY when the virtual disk is on an SSD, when is in a HDD the performance is just disgusting.

Why does this happen? I mean this didn't happen on Virtualbox, the problem only happens in Qemu and is even funny because I have used Qemu to virtualize some distros and they run better in my laptop (with nvme) that has worse specs than my PC just because they run in an nvme and my PC on a HDD.

The hard drive is not even that old, I use it to save my games and play them from there in Linux without any problems.

Have anyone tried Tailscale as a Hamachi alternative?
  • Didn't even know that Zerotier exists, I have to check it out, thanks!

  • Is it possible to mute a single app?
  • Maybe what I will say is not exactly what you are looking for but it can help, try using RethinkDNS, it is an open source app that works as a firewall and can completely remove ads from many apps without doing anything special, you simply need to turn on the app and that's it.

I would also recommend "Auto mute", it is another open source app that cannot filter sound by app, but can filter by type of sound, for example, you can disable the audio of specifically game-type apps. For example, I have Auto Mute configured so that it automatically silences all multimedia sound, so, if I watch a YouTube video it starts silently and when I increase the volume I can clearly hear it, but if I close the app and open another video, now the app would be silenced again until I manually turned up the multimedia sound again.

  • Sewing patterns?
  • I don't have special knowledge in this area, but I'm sure that on torrent sites (available on the Megathread) you could find courses, documentation or books on the subject.

  • Have anyone tried Tailscale as a Hamachi alternative?
  • To be honest I don't know and I didn't care at the time I used it either because I knew nothing about software or computer security and just listened to what some random youtuber said, but you're probably right.

  • Have anyone tried Tailscale as a Hamachi alternative?

I used to use Hamachi on Windows to play "local LAN" games with my friends, has anyone tried using Tailscale for this purpose? As far as I know it should work fine, but I'm not sure and I don't have any friends to try it out with, but it makes me curious.

In Lemmy there are mirror communities of subreddits, is there something like that in Mastodon but to follow users on Twitter?

I know that with the recent changes to the Twitter APIs it is extremely possible that if this was possible, it is no longer possible, or unlikely, but still as I recall with the Reddit API changes the third-party apps were going to stop working and although I don't use Reddit, I have seen that many Reddit apps still update and here on Lemmy there are those communities that are a mirror, although I guess they are an RSS.

Also, I want to clarify that I know I don't need a Mastodon account to follow an account there, but I wanted to explain it in a way that was easier to understand.

  • In case you didn't know, Aves (the gallery app) has a built-in video editor

Maybe I'm the only one who didn't know this, but Aves supports built-in video editing, which was a feature I loved from the non-libre version of Simple Gallery, but well, we all know what happens with those apps.

I'm not using the Libre version of the app so this feature may be not available in that version, but both the Libre and this one are available in the F-Droid (or IzzyOnDroid) repositories, as far as I understand the only difference is some proprietary libraries, but I'm not sure at all about this, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Suyu flatpak

I read in the Suyu subreddit that some people are using the flatpak instead of the appimage to autoupdate the emulator, but obviously there is no information about a flatpak in their official site and there is no Suyu in flathub, so my best guess is that there is information about it in their Discord, but I do not use discord.

Which Citra fork do you consider most promising?

I know we're going to see a lot of new forks at the moment, and it's likely that the vast majority will stop developing soon, so which is the most promising fork for you?

With some google searches I found two options, but there are probably a thousand more, and they are: Lemonade and Lime. Lemonade seems to have a lot of commits in comparison to Citra, and Lime already has a release with some fixes.

And by the way, in case you didn't know, there is a very promising fork of Yuzu called Suyu.

How to download music from Youtube with metadata?

I know that there are alot of Spotify downloaders that download the metadata from Spotify and then download the audio from Youtube, but currently I don't use Spotify and I have my playlists on Youtube, is there any way to add the metadata to my songs or download them with the metadata?
