  • First look at LEGO Star Wars 75398 C-3PO and 75379 R2-D2 together

    > Fresh images of LEGO Star Wars 75398 C-3PO have given us our first look at the buildable droid with 75379 R2-D2, confirming that the two sets are indeed in scale. > > If you’ve been looking for an excuse to pick up 75379 R2-D2 beyond the 25th-anniversary Darth Malak minifigure, here’s one: the astromech droid scales perfectly with his protocol counterpart in 75398 C-3PO, the latest buildable character coming our way in August. > > Initially revealed by third-party retailers last week, we now have a bunch more images of the 1,138-piece set thanks to Lucky Bricks, and one of those shows the Star Wars saga’s most memorable droids together in situ. Fair warning: this image may make you want to buy two LEGO Star Wars sets that separately you had no interest in.

  • First look at two more LEGO Star Wars August 2024 sets

    > Online retailers have published the first images of two more LEGO Star Wars August 2024 sets, one of which includes another 25th-anniversary minifigure. > > The slow drip-feed of LEGO Star Wars sets coming our way next month continues with 75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Battle on Peridea and 75396 Desert Skiff & Sarlacc Pit. Both sets will arrive on August 1 alongside 75389 The Dark Falcon, 75392 Creative Play Droid Builder, 75393 TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up, 75394 Imperial Star Destroyer and 75398 C-3PO. > > ... > > 75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Battle on Peridea > > Price: €54.99 Pieces: 382 Minifigures: 5 Release date: August 1, 2024 > > Based on the Ahsoka Disney+ TV series, 75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Battle on Peridea brings together most of the show’s main characters for a showdown on Peridea. Effectively a platform with a few turntables, the 382-piece build is mostly a backdrop for its minifigures, which include refreshed versions of Ahsoka Tano, Morgan Elsbeth, Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn, alongside a brand new Night Trooper. > > 75396 Desert Skiff & Sarlacc Pit > > Price: €79.99 Pieces: 558 Minifigures: 6 Release date: August 1, 2024 > > Coming in at a pretty high price for its piece count is 75396 Desert Skiff & Sarlacc Pit, which adjusts the balance of its two builds compared to previous iterations of this scene. The skiff is a little bit smaller than we’ve seen previously, but the Sarlacc is much beefier, complete with more than a hint of its desert surroundings to create an actual pit. > > The minifigure line-up is a who’s-who of main characters, with Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian and Boba Fett comprising the primary cast. But you’ll also find a bonus minifigure here in Nien Nunb, who comes with a 25th-anniversary display stand much like Cal Kestis, ARC Trooper Fives, Darth Malak, Saw Gerrera and Young Princess Leia.

    > An online retailer has published the first images of LEGO Star Wars 75398 C-3PO, another upcoming 25th anniversary set from a galaxy far, far away. > > Following on from last year’s 75371 Chewbacca, this 18+ set builds into a towering recreation of the galaxy’s most irritating protocol droid, complete with plenty of pearl gold to recreate C-3PO’s shiny shell. This first look comes courtesy of Singaporean LEGO Certified Store The Brick Shop, which has published a product listing page for 75398 C-3PO ahead of its wide reveal at LEGO.com. > > Like the two recently-revealed LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy sets, 75398 C-3PO is apparently due to hit shelves on August 1, with pre-orders commencing from July 1. It’s due to cost $229.90 in Singaporean dollars, or the same price as 75337 AT-TE Walker, so it seems likely to retail for roughly £119.99 / $139.99 / €139.99 in the UK, US and Europe respectively.

LEGO Star Wars Jedi Bob summer 2024 set confirmed

    > The LEGO Group has confirmed the existence of another upcoming LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy set in 75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter. > > Long rumoured to be hitting shelves this August alongside the already-revealed 75389 The Dark Falcon and 75393 TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up, 75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter is mentioned in the product descriptions for both of those sets, which debuted on LEGO.com yesterday. It’s the first official confirmation that the fan-favourite original character is returning to the LEGO Star Wars line-up. > > Jedi Bob first appeared in 2002’s 7163 Republic Gunship, and nearly two decades later was at the centre of a fan campaign for inclusion in the UCS Republic Gunship. The LEGO Star Wars team passed up that opportunity, but have now found a way to bring the anonymous Jedi back into the fold through the upcoming Disney+ animated special Rebuild the Galaxy.

The massive and black Millennium Falcon even includes what appears to be a miniature version of the Death Star’s laser. > >The six exclusive minifigures in 75389 The Dark Falcon will be worth collecting, including Beach Luke, Jedi Vader, Bounty Hunter C-3PO, Darth Dev, Darth Jar Jar and Darth Rey. The latter is one of the only non-original depictions as the Dark Side version of Rey was briefly featured in The Rise of Skywalker. > > ... > > 75393 TIE Fighter and X-Wing Mash-up > > Price: €104.95 Pieces: 1,063 Release date: August 1, 2024 > > This 1,063-piece set includes an X-Wing and a TIE Fighter that can be remixed into different ships – an X-Fighter and a TIE Wing – as we can see in the trailer for Rebuild the Galaxy. > > It’s a unique feature for a LEGO Star Wars set and one that reminds us of The Freemaker Adventures and how that series would mash up brick-built ships. The set is listed for release on August 1, 2024, for €104.95. > > The highlight of the set is the many exclusive minifigures, including new characters Yesi Scala, Sig Greebling and L3-GO. No prizes for guessing what the last name is a reference to and these all appear to be wholly original characters created for Rebuild the Galaxy. These are joined by a standard Rebel Pilot and TIE Pilot.

LEGO Star Wars magazine Issue 110 rare minifigure for UK

    > LEGO Star Wars magazine continues to alternate its free gifts between highly-desirable minifigures and less-so vehicle mini-builds. That’s certainly the case with Issue 109 of the Immediate Media title, which is now on sale in the UK priced at £4.99. > > For that amount you’ll be able to snag a 46-piece brick-built Imperial Shuttle, although similar versions of the craft have been included with previous issues of the magazine. However, of much greater interest is the confirmation of next month’s cover freebie, a 501st Specialist Clone Trooper minifigure, complete with blaster and macrobinoculars. > > ... > > The 501st Specialist Clone Trooper minifigure is currently only available as part of 2023’s 75345 501st Clone Troopers Battle Pack, which is still available at the time of this writing. New details have been revealed regarding the remaining mystery LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary minifigures, hinting as to who they might be.

Mystery LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary minifigure details

    > Earlier this year it was announced that six special edition LEGO Star Wars minifigures would be released to celebrate the theme’s birthday in 2024, with three characters revealed to date. So far we’ve seen Darth Malak, ARC Trooper Fives and Saw Gerrera appear in 25th anniversary sets, although a special Darth Maul minifigure in the updated LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary isn’t part of that line-up. > > All we’ve had to go on so far have been silhouettes of the minifigures, but text above each character has been added with a cryptic clue as to their identity. The first reads ‘Game face on’, which suggests the character may well be Cal Kestis from the Star Wars Jedi video game series. Next is ‘Alderaan guesses,’ which would seem to point to a Young Leia minifigure on its way in 2024. > > The final two mystery LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary minifigures are labelled as ‘No. 9, it’s time,’ that could be a hint to the recently revealed first ever Nien Nunb minifigure (the character was described during the production of Return of the Jedi as ‘Number Nine’) and ‘Oh so cute,’ a potential reference to R2-KT, a character created to honour Katie Johnson, who tragically passed away from cancer in 2005.
