Mod Coordination
- PSA Voyager Approve Post button not working as intended
This button in the Voyager app is marked "Approve Post" but it appears to be marking posts as "Restored" even if they weren't removed?
I have been using it, and thus have marked a bunch of posts as Restored :/
- potential fixes for being unable to view files.catbox.moe (see "Connectivity Issues")
catbox.moe has become one of popular hosting websites I’ve seen here on lemmynsfw. If you cannot connect to their site (especially files.catbox.moe pages), check out the “Connectivity Issues” section of their FAQ, which is linked by this post. The dev’s commentary can get in the way of the FAQ, but the advice worked for me.
Regions affected: Afghanistan, Australia, Iran, Ireland, UK
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) affected: Comcast/Xfinity, Quad9, Spectrum, Rogers
And, of course, I’ve pasted it below for folks who can’t access catbox’s faq page. Please don’t hold me accountable for this reproduction.

Why can't I access Catbox/access files on Catbox (files.catbox.moe)?
Good question! It turns out certain governments in the world hate freedom of information, don't have net neutrality, don't see online service providers as legally exempt entities, or a combination of the three!
You will have issues accessing Catbox/files on Catbox if you are connecting from the following countries or providers:
Austrailia [sic.]
- Why? - The Australian government had a heart attack after the Christchurch shooting, and decided that Catbox was a terrorist propaganda spreading website, and has instructed multiple Australian ISPs to implement DNS blocks of Catbox's domains.
- How to resolve? - Changing your DNS servers to a public server (i.e. 8.8.8.8, 76.76.2.0, or 208.67.222.222) or utilizing DoH should mitigate this problem.
Ireland/UK
- Why? - Unfortunately the love of footy has overtaken the sensibilites of the British and Irish governments, and they have decided to implement an IP level block on Catbox's primary IP address, due to clips of games being uploaded to Catbox..
- How to resolve? - You will need to utilize a VPN in order to evade this traffic hijack.
Iran
- Why? - Unknown, but I'm sure you can probably make some pretty accurate guesses.
- How to resolve? - You will need to use a VPN to bypass the IP-level block.
Afghanistan
- Why? - Unknown, but I'm sure you can probably make some pretty accurate guesses.
- How to resolve? - You will need to use a VPN to bypass the IP-level block.
Comcast/Comcast Business
- Why? - Comcast Business' "SecurityEdge" hijacking attack intecepts traffic going towards Catbox. Residential customers are blocked by "xFi Advanced Security" I have been unable to determine if this is a DNS level block, or an IP level block.
- How to resolve? - Comcast Residential: Disable the "xFi Advanced Security" hijack on your router. Comcast Business: Disable the "SecurityEdge" hijack on your account. See here.
Spectrum
- Why? - Spectrum's "SecurityEdge" hijacking attack intercepts DNS requests for Catbox for an unknown reason.
- How to resolve? - Spectrum Residential customers should disable the "SecurityEdge" hijack in their router/account settings, or use a VPN to bypass the hijack.
Rogers
- Why? - Unknown. It appears to be dynamically filtering web traffic to Catbox.
- How to resolve? - Disable the "Advanced Security" hijack attack in your Rogers settings
Quad9
- Why? - Quad9 actually pulls an aggregate list of URL blacklists and uses them for their filtered DNS service. Catbox is frequently added to no-name blacklists for various reasons.
- How to resolve? - Use Quad9's alternative DNS server 9.9.9.10, or switch to another public DNS server.
- how have you been keeping your communities active since the Reddit API migration died down?
At this point, we’re beyond the big wave of new users in early- to mid-June with the protests against Reddit’s API policies. (I was one of them!). There was lots of enthusiasm, a bunch of new communities, and lots of posts.
But it seems like a lot of the activity is dying down. How are you (and your communities) doing? How have you been keeping your communities active?
- Posts not appearing
Is anyone else having an issue where they can't see posts for some reason? I can browse by comments and see comments on posts, and then from there access the relevant post, but then still be unable to actually see those posts in my feed or on people's profiles.
EDIT: I worked out what it was - for some reason the "Show Read Posts" box in my profile was unticked, so ticking that again seems to make everything work again, oops.
- @Madness, for the love of Christ stop making more communities.
There is no need to have a community dedicated to every female celebrity that exists; we already have the c/celebnsfw and c/celebs communities, and in pretty much all of your communities, you are the only poster.
- [Question]: Is this sub to coordinate on NSFW communities only or more general?
Hello all, hope this is an ok post
I joined while this was getting setup and I was looking for moderator resources (I'm new to moderating).
I'm wondering if there's other places for general moderating though? Not that I mind the NSFW content, mods here probably have the hardest jobs and most experience, just wondering if I'm out of place.
I'm looking to keep up with mod best practices and possibly find people interested in helping moderating my little laughter community while Im on vacation, stuff like that. (its required zero moderating so far, so not much of a concern yet)
- [ADMIN] c/Futanari needs a moderator
Do we have any volunteers? It is a medium traffic community.
- [ADMIN] Question for the mods of foot fetish comms
Hey, if you mod a foot fetish comm, we're looking for some input: How do you feel that technically SFW images of feet should be tagged: NSFW, or not NSFW?
On the one hand, SFW is SFW. On the other hand, they're definitely being presented in a fetishy context for the ol' spank bank and in that context are probably not actually safe for viewing at work.
This isn't a binding poll, we're just looking for community input before we make our decision.

If you are the moderator of any community on this instance, reply to this post and I will add you as a moderator of this community so that you can create posts within this community.
- Introductory Post
I reckon there will be a need for moderators to help each other run communities. This community can also help decide on instance-wide rules and help people who want to set up their own communities.
If you are a moderator / the instance admin, contact me directly so that I can add you as a moderator to this community
