plex
- Beelink mini PC plex server with arrs?
I have a simple set up, the beelink is running win11 and is my plex server. A JBOD is connected by USB.
It's been working great, no issues at all. I've been using stremio with RD and torrentio to get content.
I'm thinking of setting up the arrs on the same machine, with qBittorent. I'd have to use my VPN (Nord). Just wondered if all of this would cause any performance problems?

- I made a thing! A python script to delete old, unwatched movie content. (update)github.com GitHub - ASK-ME-ABOUT-LOOM/purgeomatic: Delete movie/tv data based on watch statistics
Delete movie/tv data based on watch statistics. Contribute to ASK-ME-ABOUT-LOOM/purgeomatic development by creating an account on GitHub.
About a year and a half ago I posted a script I made for deleting movie content in your library not being watched. Folks really seemed to like it, and I still get comments on that thread every so often. So I've updated it!
Far and away, the two biggest requests I got were:
- Make it do TV, too
- Make a dry-run mode
- Edit: Added just now: a protected mode when you volume mount a
protected
file!
The code is now available on github here:
https://github.com/ASK-ME-ABOUT-LOOM/purgeomatic
Even better, no installation is required. You can run it as a docker container like so:
docker run --rm -it --env-file .env --network=host ghcr.io/ask-me-about-loom/purgeomatic:latest python delete.movies.unwatched.py
It now supports TV series as well. Thanks to a suggestion from /u/JimLahey-, I was able to get my head around the idea - I had always thought of managing TV shows as "collections of seasons" of media, but the reality is, if nobody has watched anything related to a TV show in a while, the whole thing can go! And that's what this does:
docker run --rm -it --env-file .env --network=host ghcr.io/ask-me-about-loom/purgeomatic:latest python delete.tv.unwatched.py
No more editing python, either. Create yourself a .env file, set up all of your config, and even enable dry run mode, so you can test to your heart's content:
$ docker run --rm -it --env-file .env --network=host ghcr.io/ask-me-about-loom/purgeomatic:latest python delete.movies.unwatched.py DRY_RUN enabled! -------------------------------------- 2023-08-25T12:40:57.288608 DRY RUN: Chaos Walking | Radarr ID: 1445 | TMDB ID: 412656 DRY RUN: Captain Marvel | Radarr ID: 885 | TMDB ID: 299537 DRY RUN: Captain America: Civil War | Radarr ID: 1768 | TMDB ID: 271110 DRY RUN: Black Widow | Radarr ID: 1517 | TMDB ID: 497698 DRY RUN: Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) | Radarr ID: 1092 | TMDB ID: 495764 DRY RUN: Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure | Radarr ID: 1777 | TMDB ID: 1648 DRY RUN: Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey | Radarr ID: 1778 | TMDB ID: 1649 DRY RUN: Big Hero 6 | Radarr ID: 71 | TMDB ID: 177572 DRY RUN: Big | Radarr ID: 71 | TMDB ID: 177572 DRY RUN: Batman Begins | Radarr ID: 1745 | TMDB ID: 272 DRY RUN: Assault on Precinct 13 | Radarr ID: 1212 | TMDB ID: 17814 DRY RUN: 21 Jump Street | Radarr ID: 1096 | TMDB ID: 64688 Total space reclaimed: 164.88GB
To use protected mode, just create a text file with one TMDB/TVDB ID per line and volume mount it as
/app/protected
like so:docker run --rm -it --env-file .env --network=host -v /home/user/protected:/app/protected ghcr.io/ask-me-about-loom/purgeomatic:latest python delete.movies.unwatched.py
Good luck! Please let me know if you have questions or problems and I'll do my best to help out!

- Need some input on a server build
So I’m looking to finally build a dedicated plex server, instead of using my personal desktop, but I’m having a hard time deciding on components (for a tower). I would say 3 simultaneous 4k remote transcodes would be the goal.
There are some 12/13600k and Arc A380 bundles on Newegg that have caught my eye; at the very least I think I’d like an A380 to ensure AV1 10-bit support for the future. Am I missing out by not hunting for the perfect deal on an old Xeon or something off of eBay? I’m not really familiar with server components, and I don’t know to what extent I would benefit from features like ECC RAM.
I also figure that a hard drive array (RAID or Unraid) would be best, because it’ll be more than enough speed for my application and give me some data protection. I’ve got around 10TB of content right now, and have a 6TB and 8TB drive (both Seagate Ironwolf). If there’s a solution that would allow me to incorporate those instead of just buying all new drives I’d be especially interested in it. Also, from what I understand I can get some decent enterprise drives for a reasonable price?
Finally, OS; I’m most familiar with Windows, but I’m willing to try something Linux if there’s enough of a benefit
- VM vs Docker container
Hi. I currently run plex in a kvm VM. Have for years without any real trouble. I'm in the process of refreshing my homelab and replacing the plex VM is next on my list.
I'm curious if there are any pros or cons to running Plex in a docker container vs it's own dedicated VM? Is there anyone here who's done both and saw a difference?

I might be a bit out of the loop here but why was the decision made to migrate the community to a different instance?
All I've seen is that it was to move to a "friendlier" instance, did something happen previously or is this just related to the admins of lemmy.ml?

- Is it just me, or it Lidarr a lot more difficult to work with than Sonarr/Radarr?
Sonarr and Radarr seem to be pretty simple “set it and forget it” apps, but Lidarr seems to be a bit of a pain in the ass. Does anyone have an good tips for working with it?
