Linux can be a pain
So can Windows.
True. Only difference being everyone grew up with it and accepted it as "normal" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .
Except windows has become more of a pain over time, Meanwhile Linux became good enough that I don't miss windows at all
More annoying than painful in my opinion.
Fair, but that's probably where our experiences differ, windows kicked me out kicking and screaming, going back for me would be traumatic

I mean they're not stabbing you so not literally painful, but "being a pain" is pretty common parlance to say something is annoying..
Don‘t tell them that Sony is using Linux/BSD as well.
