I don't get why anyone would be upset at music suggestions. Is there something sinister to this? As a kid, I heard all new music by way of commercial radio. What's wrong with this?
Two things. First, the user didn't ask for the suggestion (it popped up). Second, the contents of the suggestion are "sponsored" (paid for by an advertiser and not necessarily related to the user's interest). User-friendly suggestions should be gathered in a single space that the user chooses to interact with (like a suggestions page) and contain only relevant information (uninfluenced by paid-for sponsorships).
Ah, I see the distinction now. True. There is already a suggestion feature in the "liked songs" playlist where you can have Spotify give your a suggested song every third song. So the pop-up is just a nuisance. I see now.
