The jet-ski escapee is Chinese rights activist Kwon Pyong. He had posted pictures on social media mocking Chinese President Xi Jinping, and spent time in jail in China for subversion.

46 12 ReplyTreason and sedition is a no-no around the world...
There's a difference between going "yo government y'all suck" and "let's take up arms and overthrow the government"
22 9 Reply"Someone will find a way to make this about America" he said, immediately making it about America.
11 11 ReplyHe was trying to cross a border illegally. So yeah, its exactly what america would do, except maybe they would have shot him.
16 22 ReplyYeah the American government always imprisons those who make fun of them. Exactly the same as this for sure.
25 6 ReplyPlease show me where he was arrested for criticising the Chinese state.

Yeah I'm sure the Chinese government would freely admit to that being the reason lol
6 3 ReplyWell the US certainly wouldn't do THAT.
It is still technically illegal to be a communist or support the party or "Communist-action" organizations in the US. Even though as far as I know, the US government has never "freely admitted" arresting someone for being communist
The Act made membership to the Communist Party a criminal act and stipulated that all Party members would be sanctioned with up to a $10,000 fine or imprisonment for five years or both if they failed to register with the U.S. Attorney General as such. Additionally, according to the third section, the Communist Party would be deprived of "the rights, privileges, and immunities of a legal body.
Ignoring even just the publicly known covert agency programs to undermine the Communist Party of the United States, including possibly being involved in the eventual assassination of MLK jr
But jesus man, stop inviting comparisons between china and the us!

Chapter 10 in this book gives lots of examples of political repression in US where activists have been harassed, arrested, and even assassinated by the state https://archive.org/details/DemocracyForTheFew16147062951821
The fact that you think US government doesn't do these things says a lot about the effectiveness of western brainwashing.
