And billionaire Trump donor Elon Musk – who is overseeing the administration’s controversial effort to rapidly shrink the federal government – has criticized ActBlue, seeking to tie it to protests and acts of vandalism against his electric-vehicle company Tesla. He has argued, without evidence to substantiate his claims, that some prominent Democrats – including one who died in 2019 – were funding ActBlue and the protests.
“Something stinks about ActBlue,” Musk posted earlier this month on his social media platform, X.

With the levels of dissatisfaction with Dems, does it even matter? Isn't it time to form a progressive party and splinter off?
- A progressive party would be doomed from the start, the dichotomy of us politics is an issue of inertia not party availability. Unless both parties splinter simultaneously how could it possibly be successful? You think the american people are generally progressive? Look at this last election!
  
  Nobody has offered a progressive choice iyn that level. Progressives speak to the working class as do populists, there are Bernie bros who joined the Trump train.

  challenging? sure, but if there were ever conditions for the viable split it would be now. Progressives could splinter Democrats enough for mainstream dems take notice. What's needed is a desire to make it happen and a few capable leaders to unite folks behind the idea... AOC and Bernie may be able to pull it off but haven't indicated any desire yet
  
  It may work out in the long term, but the next few elections after a split (assuming there are elections) are going to be purely conservative. Blame this fucking 2p fptp system.

- There's no need for that. Progressives can assume control of the Democratic party. That's how it's supposed to work in the first place.
  They don't. Because no one wants to sit in boring meetings outside their house. And no one wants to go through the invasive procedure of running for office.
  And here we are. With the only progressives who can stand to do that already in the party that's been plagued by idiot consultants - who don't even act in official capacity - giving them losing advice for 40 years.
  
  Taking over Dems is next to impossible for progressives as entrenched elite is backed by "big money" and is effective at torpedoing progressives every time. Take big money out of politics and you may have a chance at overtaking party, otherwise - screwed
  
  Yes but I'm not talking about running against them in an election - I'm talking about working with the local chapter to become chairperson and moving on to state. Driving change in a proper way - in incremental, boring ways that add up.
  Do that. It's "free" in that corporate big money isn't in play (although politics is - that's the mysterious thing most people who have no experience with it can't fathom.)
  If a person can't work with the local Dems for -reasons-, then join or start the Independent party locally and win elections. If somebody thinks that can't happen, they're not a good choice anyway. Dream. Do. Vote.
  Here's the thing, in less than 2 years we're going to be at midterms and all the "lefties" will be shitting on the Democrats again (rightly or wrongly, it doesn't matter at that point), handing yet another election to the fascists and then spending the next two years not doing anything either.
  What are people waiting for? Leadership. One doesn't need to lead the country, one doesn't need to lead the state, one doesn't even need to lead the local council, but people do need to show up if they want to participate. Or, y'know, don't. Where most of us are now.
  
  I have experience participating in local chapter for a party, but when you get some ideas pushed to a party congress and get it squashed because it's being controlled by the people opposing the change it kind of turns you off.
