WE ARE NOW OFFICIALLY AFFILIATED WITH 196CORD 2: DARK BONERVILLE.
Not affiliated or related to 196cord. I am not a mod there, nor my particularly active on discord in general but we both figured that a partnership would be mutually beneficial.

And here I thought I found a 196 alternative free of pedos. I miss 196 even more now. Just look at this link.

When did our community get infested by them? And why is no one talking about this? I liked r/196 because it used to be a safe space for LGBT+ and many other minorities while at the same time was heavily attacking pedos. What happened.
I'm sorry but someone just saying "yeah it's full of pedos" isn't evidence at all. I can find some random guy saying anything is true. We're better than this. Don't think like flat earthers or antivaxxers. Hard evidence only.
But I also sent there screenshots of some examples of what I'm talking about. Please, I really don't think this place should get affiliated.
But even if you do, can you at least keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour on the discord? I want 196 to be a safe place for others and I'm worried that it will not be anymore... I seriously have doubts about the whole topic. I'm scared that this will do actual harm to others.
Isn't this setting off red flags? Thankfully that user is now muted due to this message and the users that were there at that time called him out on his bullshit but that doesn't mean there aren't more people like him.
here is also two people who said that the response to pedophilia by mods on 196cord is awful.
That person was then quickly muted on the server.
What you showed is the community is self policing against crap like that, which shows positive reasons to keep the affiliation.
Well then here's a post someone mentioned and a person who said what I'm saying. Granted the other post might be a joke that flew over my head but I still stand by what I think.
Sorry, my guess is something's up with the link, the server is still up. I really don't know why, it works fine for me...
I did send a screenshot of the conversation to a different user in the comments though.
It's worth noting that, on Lemmy, you may end up dealing with a broader potential audience base than Reddit. This puts a bit more of the onus of content control on the user, as admins won't always see everything, and reporting gets a bit more case-by-case.
But instances can also block other instances, so if there's a cesspool server of pedos and terfs, if the instance so chooses, they can blackhole them.
There really needs to be a way for users to block instances the same way they can block users and communities. It would ease up some of the calls for defederating (not all).
