Does it aspire to be an EU for Africa, or is it a more loose union?
It's aspiring to be like the EU, but I can't see that happening any time soon. There's ambiguous talks of a common currency, and relaxation of borders between certain member states.
Gaddafi was the brain child, leaving out all his mumbo jumbo, did punt this as an economic union akin to the EU.
The AU is more like the UN than it is the EU.
