Seeing low activity here, I was thinking of creating a bot which can bring content from /r/india. Here's what I have in mind:
Every hour, post top 30 posts from /r/india to /c/india
Also cross-post comments from all the posts we cross-post i.e if someone posts a comment on reddit, post it here; and if someone responds to a comment here, re-post it on appropriate thread in reddit
What do guys think? Is it a good idea? In my mind it can help break content monopoly of reddit.
Every 6 hours you could do 2 posts maybe. You will first have to instill privacy values in Indians, because we (not me but in general) love the Google, Apple, Facebook and the Anglo 14 Eyes stuff and are still mentally and culturally colonised.
r/india is a bunch of corporate loving liberals, neolibs and reactionaries, which while being better than chodi or indiaspeaks right wing bigot cesspools, is different from what Lemmy and Lemmurs want.
That sounds impractical. What else do you consider behavior-to-avoid, other than low quality and reposts?
Do lemmy has anything in built to avoid reposts, or low quality posts?
Goals on lemmy.ml don't mention this. Is this something you personally want, or are these !india@lemmy.ml goals?
I hope I am not coming off as argumentative/offensive. I am genuinely curious.
I agree. Early Lemmy, while not particularly active, had a lot of good posts and the community was incredibly kind and developed good discussions in the comments. That quality and community is still present, of course, but as we've grown, I've already seen elements of Reddit creeping in: low quality nonsense comments, an increasing amount of liberals and reactionaries, techno-chauvinists who separate technology from politics, etc. I want Lemmy to grow, but not at the expense of it's idiosyncrasies that separated it from Reddit.
I personally do not think all liberals are bad (I am not one now) but the rest are surely bad elements. More accurately, you would say corrupt leftist liberals.
So many elements of reddit can be identifiable to any vigilant folk easily, that are parasites and plagues worse than this COVID. Moreso, considering how reddit replaced the entire forum and internet board culture.
