It's the major thing holding me back from buying ad free. Trying to view dms instantly crashes the app and it's very frustrating.

There hasn't been any development on the app for the last half a year or so, so I wouldn't count on it.
He made a post about an update coming about 10 hours ago.

For future reference, this was always LJ's MO. He never was one for frequent communication between updates, he'd vanish for months without a word and then re-appear out of nowhere with a big update.
So if that happens again, don't assume the project is dead. That's just how he operates.
