This is fucking with my brain - are the rocks I'm seeing on a slope above the roofs, or are the rocks actually the ceiling of the road?
The latter. The buildings on the right are constructed under a shelf of rock - on the left, they've built up to meet that shelf.
I've been there and I don't ever remember seeing the rock go from one side of the street to the other; it overhangs a one-sided street
