The Coral Sea lies next to the Great Barrier Reef. Why don't we know more about it?

Nice to get some not negative news - did the article say anything about the coral species types in the deeper water? I am assuming they are different species and probably will NOT recolonize the warmer, shallower (more acidic?) areas? Fish are way more mobile.
