Only with the T would this be a noteworthy headline - but great to see that they might be able to get the staffing situation together before I die of old age now!
I'll take whatever wins I can get. Even $30/hour is barely livable in this city, but it's an excellent start. Hopefully they'll be able to get staffed up and improve service in a meaningful way by the new year.
I remember a conversation with a younger coworker (like 3 years younger) some time ago where in he argued that higher wages were bad because “ why would he work an office job if McDonalds paid the same. ?”
I was incredulous.
Fast forward 10 years and multiple raises and I can’t afford to live in the city where my job is because that’s the world we’ve just rolled over and accepted.
I’m still unclear as to who it is that can afford to live in Boston because it certainly isn’t me, a guy who works there.
