When I open a file Jellyfin always shows "fetching additional data".

When I open a file Jellyfin always shows "fetching additional data".

Is there a way to do that before opening a file, ideally for all files?

  • Which client are you using? I don't ever see this message. Is your cache folder for the Jellyfin server on a spinning disk drive, perhaps?

    • @entropicdrift@lemmy.sdf.org on the browser. Idk if this is something being retrieved from my jellyfin server or somewhere else?

      • It's probably from the jellyfin server itself. How recently did you set it up? Do you have a large library? Could be still scanning your media.

Is this happening when you try to play the file, or when you go to look at the details?

  • Disable automatic subtitle downloading if you have it enabled.

Edit: nvm I dont think jf does that. Ive seen that message popping up after the 10.9 release but it goes away after like 5 seconds.

Do a full scan of all your libraries and double check your metadata providers and make sure it isn't an issue downloading metadata.
