It is built on top of ublock origin and will "click" on the adverts behind the scenes and make advertisers think you like a product messing with your advertising profile.
It also has a nice AdVault so you can see what advertisers are trying to push onto you.
Yeah, it was obvious when the original dev sold out, but I could never be seen in public again at this point. It's a disgrace. "hey look guys, it's the one who saved the internet and then sold their dignity because they are a massive pussy!" every second of every day has to be brutal. That check could never be enough for that.
Adblock is in the name so it’s what people go with.
Whenever a friend or family member asks me for help and I see this, I tell them it’s not very good and recommend uBlock Origin instead. If they don’t have anything, I recommend uBlock Origin anyway since it helps reduce malware ridden ads and improves website loading performance, not to mention it’s just so much cleaner of an experience for nearly any website you visit.
I can’t remember anyone telling me they would rather keep Adblock Plus instead of letting me move them over to uBlock Origin.
I believe what they're referencing is sites that require you disable your ad blocker to access; they're saying you will be able to bypass those gates while keeping your ad blocker enabled
Still enshitification though. Fuck everything about this
Are they not a German company? In that case they have to show the price including VAT. AFAIK a price that excludes VAT, even if that is stated, is not enough when selling to consumers.
If you're going to spend €40, you might as well get a Raspberry Pi and setup a PiHole. You cam also run your own Mastodon server and Lemmy instance on it if you set them all using Docker.
You really should still use both, have a Pihole and use uBlock. For one, if you have a mobile computer like a laptop or tablet, you may take it with you where you don’t have your Pihole (unless you set up a VPN at home which still should have uBlock Origin). There’s also some ads that the Pihole can miss or websites like YouTube where uBlock Origin is nearly flawless in the browser.
Though many modern ISPs make it difficult with how they lock down their routers they supply you, making it difficult to set up a PiHole without some changes to your network. But that’s another topic for another conversation…
This is what I call the internets healthcare insurance scam. If you can’t get the reference look at Americas healthcare insurance system and identify the reason it’s all a scam(over inflation to the point that it only works with insurance/cut % off). This is a system that is designed where now both parties can benefit from a payment plan. I pay you to let my blocker block you but they have to pay a premium and you get a cut from it. It’s called a business deal and as an adblocker them making deals with advertisers to make it easier or work better is the scummiest shit ever. That’s why if you have to pay premium for better adblocking it’s because it’s most likely backdoor deals that can be compared to healthcare insurance and hospitals in America.
