The Chinese government says it will start limiting exports of two rare raw metals used in computer chip production in retaliation for earlier U.S. semiconductor export restrictions against Beijing.

Agreed. All this does is increase support for de-risking any idea of investing in China.
Although there are benefits of globalization, there should still be independent manufacturing and mining wherever possible. If China is struck by a large meteor in the future, or blocks all trade due to politics, the rest of the world should be ready.
