He didn’t ignore them. He thought “oh sweet, this will be the perfect pretext. I can’t wait.”

It’s the same reason he keeps blowing up peace deals that would bring the hostages back.

This was known early on in the war. It's clear that the majority of Israel doesn't care about this or the hostages. They like the excuse of it for what they're doing in Gaza too nuch to care.
