Apollo would be proud of both
Apollo would be proud of both
They are honestly both good, but can’t beat the native ios experience.

For me it's been a SHOWDOWN between Memmy and Mlem
Trying Mlem for the first time, the only thing that bothers me is that it shows total post scores and not individual numbers for up/down votes. I like seeing when something is controversial vs ignored.
That, plus the zooming didn’t work well
I’m an idiot, though. I was in the TestFlight beta, then left it when they released it to the App Store (before realizing that the TestFlight beta would be ongoing and get earlier releases than the App Store version). That is to say — it’s probably already fixed.
Ok good, I’m not the only one! Feel like Mlem doesn’t get enough love! I like Memmy too, don’t get me wrong.
I use all three (Voyager/WefWef being the third)! Sometimes one does something better than the others or has a feature I need.
Bean: Hold my beer.
Downloaded Mlem after this comment. It is pretty good (none feel polished yet).
Mostly Voyager for me because it’s almost a 1:1 clone of what I know and love.
But I have Memmy installed too and sometimes use that instead with no particular rhyme or reason.
Self hosting it myself, love it!

As a wefwef Voyager user, I was like "What's a memmy?" but I see it's IOS only... :(
Imagine touting the benefits of an open, decentralized, user-centric platform, and ONLY releasing your app for it on the most closed, centralized, corporate mobile operating system.
Not sure if this is hypocrisy or a lack of self awareness or what, but memmy is a joke for doing this
Memmy is fantastic as is the developer.
Mlem dev here—couldn’t agree more about Gavin, he’s a fantastic guy. Gave us some helpful tips about getting through App Store review. Massive props to him for getting that app up and running so fast.
I just want to say I love the friendly "competition" between you guys. It just results in better and better products. I have both and I use them equally. Great work on Mlem, and thanks for opening up the beta signup when I asked a couple of days ago. lol
I use Mlem as well - glad we’re all part of such a great community!
Connect go brrr
Is like Linux distros.
This is me, and I’m cool with it! I like jumping into both on a daily basis to see how each progresses.
Is this IOS only?
If you want a good Android Lemmy client app, get Connect.
It blows Jerboa and liftoff out of the water.
It's even getting updates once or twice a week!
Was like "oh cool, gonna try this connect app', only to realize I was reading this comment on Connect. So many apps, man.
Jokes aside I'm loving that there's so many different clients.
Also using connect!
Just waiting for Sync to get released tho.
No clue about memmy but WefWef aka Voyager is also available on android (as a Web app).
iOS or pearOS
Meh, you sure can.
I have memmy and still prefer wefwef
My only hate for Memmy is the massive vote buttons on the right. Why the hell are they so big?
Settings\Content\Show Comment Actions.
You’re welcome!
That and being unable to swipe-collapse a comment tree. The right-left swipe only being reply (when there’s already that giant reply button) there is certainly a design choice.
What's everyone's favorite Android lemmy browser?
I'm using jerboa but it's missing some features I had with reddit. Suggestions?
Voyager has been pretty great. The devs are working overtime to get features working.
Connect is great IMO
As a former infinity used, I love connect.
Using connect for now. Waiting for sync.
I use connect until sync arrives
Until Boost in my case 🤣
I'm enjoying Connect while I wait for Sync to be released.
(As a former Sync/RIF user)
Same, can't wait for Sync
I have jerboa and just started using connect and like the 'experimental' slide to next post option
Biost for Lemmy supremacy
Might as well ask here. I am waiting on Sync for Lemmy to be released, and more importantly reach a non-alpha/beta release. But for now I am also down to try out others. Are there any that are able to handle Android tablets correctly? At the moment I have only used Jerboa. It is great on my phones, but it looks like the old days of apps for Android being forced to run on early tablets on my Galaxy Tab S8+. It just stretches out and feels off in both landscape and portrait orientations.
Adding this to be more specific, as I blanked on it originally. The thing I was somehow forgetting to mention was having cards in multiple columns. With Sync for Reddit, you could have posts show as cards that had smallish preview thumbnails in multiple columns. So posts would show more like a grid. Not sure why I blanked on saying that when talking about how currently posts just stretch all the way across the width of the display (especially in landscape mode). I am not sure if this is even currently an option with how Lemmy itself works. So hopefully that helps better. lol.
Connect is working great for me
I was on jerboa before and liked it. However I tried connect and it's much better. Jerboa had a lot of bugs still. And the UI is smoother, cleaner and better functionality on connect.
Installed and it does seem to be smooth, so I do thank you for pointing it out! I am beginning to think what I am looking for is more an issue with Lemmy. The thing I liked about Sync was the ability to have multiple columns of posts in the card format. So each post in a community doesn't just span the whole width of the screen (which is much more dramatic in landscape). Also keeps it easy to scroll more posts and preview images being smaller, but not as tiny as the super small list view.
That all being said, I do think Connect is very clean and will be using it more for the moment. It is good to see attention from devs being put towards Lemmy.
I have no clue if it has tablet support, but I like Liftoff much better than Jerboa
Installed and seems to have the same issue. But I will keep it installed along with Connect and any others I come across. I like to jump between different apps over time to see how they evolve and compare to each other. Thanks for sharing it!
mlmym.org for me
This is awesome. Though mlmym.org does not have any impressum, so I googled it. It should be the instance run by the creator but my mobile device I am currently using does not show me the entire certificate details.
I note this because one should be aware that this has implications regarding security.
Though the creator chose the correct licensing, works under his real name and the code looks good, too.
https://github.com/rystaf/mlmym I did not spot any data gathering things in my fly-through. He gives all the things needed to deploy an own instance to omit this concern.
Bravo!
I’m sticking with Mlem for now, though they’re all 99% the same
I really like it! I just wish I could change my avatar. I looked everywhere, and the option doesn't seem to exist.
Definitely fills the void Apollo left so far. I am relieved to have found Memmy.
Not sure how I feel about mommy quite yet. Bob dole.
Im just happy for all the Lemmy apps, my favorite is thunder though. I love the open API so I can have choices over what app I want.
I’ve mostly moved to Memmy, but for whatever reason Wefwef keeps reinstalling itself and I can’t figure out how to get it to stop
iOS is for simps
iOS user here: confirmed.
Is this in the App Store yet or still in the testing sandbox?
Edit: this is on the App Store now. Very cool.
Maybe something has come up with it and I’m not privy, I primarily use Voyager because PWA support, but Avelon seems pretty good too
