Rocky? Rocky 2-4? Slap Shot (1977) is fantastic.
For basketball I'd say Hoosiers (1986) is good. For American Football? Jerry Maguire (1996).
What are the best soccer, cricket, or racing movies?
Baseketball, Dodgeball, Happy Gilmore, and The Big Lebowski (I don't watch sports)

The only other one about a real sport I've watched multiple times and is a sport I actually like would be The Mighty Ducks.
5 1 ReplyDodgeball - a true underdog story
4 0 ReplyFor Golf, Happy Gilmore! If you haven’t seen it yet, you can do it!
4 0 ReplyYes that or Tin Cup (1996). Apparently peak year for golf movies. Legend of Baggar Vance (2000) was a few years later. There was a tiny window for mainstream golf movies.

Semi Pro2 0 ReplyI don't watch many sports now but watched these movies a ton as a kid:
the rookie - baseball
the air up there - basketball
caddyshack - golf
kingpin - bowling (the big Lebowski is my favorite movie of all time, but I don't really consider it a "bowling" movie)
the wizard - competitive gaming
cool runnings - bobsledding
the big green - soccer
2 0 ReplyLive action: Major League 2 had a streak of getting played on TV, so it's probably the one I've seen bits of the most, followed by Rudy for the same reason.
Animated: Cars.

2 0 ReplyThe only sport I actually watch is Drifting. I have never seen a good drifting movie.
I do enjoy The Big Lebowski for bowling, and Cool Runnings for bobsled
3 1 Reply2 0 ReplyMiracle - hockey Senna - F1 Faster (series) - MotoGP
2 0 ReplyWarrior for MMA. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure because it hits all of my traditional masculine buttons. Redemption, making dad proud, making wife proud, showing your brother you actually love him, fist fights, etc.
2 0 ReplyYou already named my favorite sports movie: Slap Shot.
The Wrestler is my other pick that I haven't seen yet in this thread
