If people are always afraid of the other guy and vote for the lesser of two evils we get our horrible two party system.
Nothing to do with being contrarian. If the candidate can't win on their merits and need the other guy to be demonized that's a problem.

Its absolutely contrarianism. You forgot to mention the consequence of your decision, and how people like you gave us Trump. The candidate won on their merits, you are just unable to admit that because you didn't get exactly what you want. Politics is literally compromise, and you are never going to get a perfect candidate. Actively sabotaging our country because you dont like the system costs people their lives, their jobs, their benefits and many people their rights. A election is between the candidates you have and their nothing remotely admirable about not accepting that fact.

Biden is center-right. He's not left, he's not progressive in my book. He doesn't represent me at all. It's not about contrarianism.
It is when it leads to you actively supporting conservatives because of your pride.
