Eh, I see where you're coming from, but this seems like it is a legit news article. I can believe it really happened.
And - Vance has a point. He's not racist (edit: only) because he thinks the border should be shut down. He's racist for other reasons, like knowingly making false accusations about a certain racial group eating cats.
