He might be making a play for non-competence. Either his dribbling performance doesn't matter and he wins the election and pardons himself, or he is declared unfit to serve, but then gets lenient sentencing or dismissed altogether.
No it wasn't. Trump wasn't remotely as unstable as he's been in just the past months. Sure, he said stupid and outrageous things, even wildly illogical things, but not like this.
Yeah, trump wasnt saying stupid shit like "i wonder if we could get the bleach into peoples lungs" and "covid will go away by easter, like magic" back then
I mean - I disagree it wasn't like this. It was exactly like this. It's worse, yeah, but this same statement could very well have been made in 2016 and would have been just as true:
“If it wasn’t clear by his erratic, self-obsessed behavior, his pathological lying, his lack of moral conscience, his assaults of women, and his blatant disregard for the safety of others, more than 200 experts agree that he is unfit for office,” Conway said. “Voters need to recognize the threat we face electing this deranged man.”
It wasexactly like this in 2016. It was just a lot harder for laymen to spot. Many clinicians discussed feeling a responsibility to warn vs interpretation of the "Goldwater Rule".
all its going to do is harden his peoples resolve to place him in power as they firmly believe he has to be for the "end days" to happen a la the evangelism of the last 100 years
I tend do agree. This is very "preaching to the choir". No Trump supporters are going to watch this and change their mind.
I do think that "Trump only cares about himself" is a kind of powerful message but they only touch on that tangentially.
I was listening to a BBC podcast Americast yesterday. They went to a Trump Rally, and interviewed people afterwards. After all this time, it still surprised me to hear people talk about Trump as though he's a godly person. It was very confronting to listen to, a real demonstration of how different our perspectives are on what makes a "good" person.
