Russia wants Google to pay a fine that's more money than exists on Earth
Google’s unpaid fines in Russia have spiraled to an unimaginable 2 undecillion rubles ($2.5 decillion USD).
This is the government equivalent of “you owe me a bajillion dollars!” An unserious fine from an unserious government.

19 14 ReplyHey man, fuck google, but this isn’t achieving diddly squat lmao.
5 0 ReplyIt is how things should be, although for valid reasons, not "the banned our accounts, we mad, grrrrr". The alternative is companies getting a "fine" that's a drop in the bucket and just continuing how they did previously. If the company does shitty things and gets banned because they can't pay a huge fine because of GDPR for instance, then good riddance.

If Russia wanted to be the good guy, they'd hack Google and opensource all the code.

Its from a fine that doubles every day. There's no judge literally demanding google pay this amount of money. Makes a good headline, though.
FTA: "The company’s Russian subsidiary declared bankruptcy in 2022". Its just been doubling the whole time.
