Why is it so hard to find the tails on these lizards? I mean I see them when I fight them and yet I hardly get drops. I'm having flashbacks of hunting Goretusk Livers for pie in Westfall.
This isn’t specifically helpful for you but: I duped them whenever I needed them, and then one day realized that I was already a bit of a mini-god and didn’t need every armor set to be 4⭐️ and stopped caring.
For regular play, not boss fights, my favorite is the stealth set. You can have some really interesting encounters sneaking up on things, and it makes farming fireflies much easier.
Barbarian set, 100%. It's good to have each elemental set (eg lightning, ice, fire) 4* for protection against a particular tough elemental foe, but imo the barbarian set at 4* is pure insanity in terms of damage.
Though I guess, that was the beauty of the game as I saw it, if you wanted to be a barbarian tank you could do that and use the right foods to protect you as and when... or you could get that damage boost from food and use different gear.
You're chopping their tails up in the fight! It takes a masterful hand to win against a Lizfaldo and leave their tails intact. This is our head canon in our house and it started with those goretusk livers a decade ago. My wife said we had to hit them perfectly in order to not damage the livers. We weren't masterful enough in our hunting techniques. It seemed rational enough and added some reasoning that made the grind more enjoyable.
If you check the totk object viewer website, it says tails have a %25 chance of dropping. It feels so much rarer but I started counting my drops and the ratio actually is 1 in 4.
For ice and fire tails I recommend the Gerudo Canyon SkyView Tower. Gerudo desert for electric as well. Electric sucks because they are so spread out compared to ice/fire.
I definitely recommend visiting the totk object viewer if you want to farm legitimately. Otherwise just dupe like others are saying.
If you have played 'ghost of tsushima' then you know what to do : present yourself to your foe and face them head on. Be honourable. As soon as you attack them from behind the prize is lost.
