Trying to drive anywhere during the summer

Road work? sure hope it does
- This road. It just doesn’t work. It just lays there all day.

And yet theres never any construction crew there working. A conspiracy theory I have is thats how they store traffic cones when not in use. Just shut down 1-2 lanes of a freeway for several miles.
- My county started doing work on a section of high traffic road one summer a few years ago. They ran out of money to fund work on it, so it legit just stayed that way for like 2 years.
  They had no problem finding $3m to build a whole new high school gym at the same time though.
- It pisses me of so much! Years and years of construction on these long term projects, bit there's never anyone around. Like they work 4 hours overnight and call it good.
- Well, they could pay the construction companies to focus on one project, do teo shufts and get shit done in a month, but that would cost like 30% more, so instead it is just going on in the regular pace for 6 months

The best signs are "this road will be closed from this date to this date, between the times X until Y" swiftly followed by the sign "lol we lied it is closed right now! Fuck you, take the worst backroad possible because the best diversion was halfway back!"
Man, I have love my commute recently.

If only they had all of 2020 and 2021 to fix the roads and not cause loads of traffic

- That is definitely Ohio. But if we construct hard enough, I truly believe my city can assimilate Ohio like we're close to devouring our surrounding towns

South of King City the 101 has been "under construction" for at least two years. I have not seen any evidence of any change to the road in that time. Just the 55 MPH speed limit where it used to be 70.

Chiming in from Europe, half the Autobahn is under road works at this time. Bloody awesome.
- Isn't that just the standard status on autobahns? Can't remember ever crossing Germany and it not being like this.
